Thank you Military People active and retired.

I guess I am something of a little more negative in that I wonder why the caring only comes out once a year. If you want to thank a vet:

1) Get angry anytime you see a news story about how deplorable the VA service being given to them is.

2) Get angry when you find out vets routinely die on long waiting lists to see a doctor.

3) Hold idiot politicians accountable when they ship troops off to occupy worthless sand that has no exit strategy and no definable victory and the tours of duty just stack up endlessly.

We should be doing right by them every day, not just on the one where senators wrap themselves in flags and pander for the patriot vote.

Just my opinion.

I give thanks to all military personnel, for their service, active and veterans. Why? Because you went in harm's way, where the possibility of you sacrificing the ultimate sacrifice, your life, was present. You did so that I, my family and 295 million other Americans can go to bed every night and KNOW that everything will be as it was when we awaken because no one dares to attack America because of YOU. We have the mightiest military the earth has ever seen, and I thank God, military veterans and active duty military every night for it. Thank you for your service.

I get weirded out a bit too. I truly appreciate the gesture but feel like it's just something I was happy to do and enjoyed the heck out of most of it.

I generally follow it up with a "thank you for your support." People don't usually know what to do with that one.

+1.........i totally agree....where was the "thank you for your service" when we came home in the late '60's and early '70's???.

this "thank you" stuff is just another popular nervous tick...similar to "have a nice day".....

Do something with substance.....Bring them ALL home NOW and FOREVER.....

I take it in stride these days. The only thing that gets under my toga is when whoever thanks me feels obligated to tell me why he didn't serve.
