New member today though I have been reading the site for several weeks. Was in the market for my first semi auto pistol and my short list had an M&P9 and M&P40 on it.

I found this site and thanks to the information, honest assessments and general high level of knowledge of it’s users I am now the proud owner of an M&P9 AND an M&P22. Got a great deal - 9 in a S&W factory range kit and the 22 both new for $850 OTD. LGS took my purchase of the 22 as the deposit on the 9. +1 for my LGS! It took them a couple weeks to get the range kit in but had the 22 so I was able to get very familiar with the semi auto pistol in a format almost identical to the 9 I had ordered.

About 2.5k rounds into the 22 and 500 in the 9 I couldn’t be happier with my decision.

Some of the best advice I found here for anyone thinking of purchasing:

Find a range where you can rent!!! And shoot everything. Lucky my LGS is also a range with rentals and I shot everything they had (not kidding) several times over – the M&P9 was the 3rd pistol I shot and after about 15 – 20 models each in several different cals the M&P is what I went with. Just felt like it was made for me. Might not be your experience but you need to try, try and try some more to know which is right for you.

Thanks to you all for unknowingly answering a lot of my questions and concerns –I read and searched (read: lurked) this forum for weeks while deciding and I couldn’t be happier with the M&Ps.

Only problem is I already want a few more S&Ws now…:)

The M&P is in my mind the greatest line of weapons for the 21st century the Glock started it with polymer and striker fire but M&P by Smith & Wesson is by far the best all around gun to own for reliability, accuracy, and ergonomics.

I Have one Glock still but just about every other M&P product from 9 mm to 45 caliber plus the M&P 15 AR Sport.

Hope you got plenty of good advise, although biased at least from myself I love my M&P's and only keep the Glock for sentimental purposes (it is right now in the pawn shop) instead of my vault!

Welcome to great guns worth the money that you will keep and brag about! (To the right people, some do not like gun owners like us)!

Congratulations on your purchases. Due diligence pays dividends, you did well.
