We had a couple really nice days. So the bugs are out in force. A couple big nasty flies are loose in the house. Saw a big wasp yesterday, but he moved on. At least no skeeters or fruit flies yet. My fly swatter is at the ready.
I sat on the front porch yesterday with my trusty Bug-A-Salt and had the time of my life. Those unaware of this invention try your own search engine (got mine at Bass Pro). Container of Wally World plain salt lasts forever.
Just for grins. I read an article about fruit flies and bugs last month. It said mix Pine Sol cleaner with water 50/50 and put it in a spray bottle. I've been using on surfaces and bugs themselves for about a month for the early arriving pests. It works as good as bug sprays and won't kill my Parakeet.
I've got one of these to kill bugs on the wing. It snaps pretty good when you hit one.
Anyone else here use the mosquito Bucket of Doom system? I set one up when the Aedes aegypti mosquitos started showing up at the house last summer, and it worked amazingly well. (We live in the high desert and I don't have any standing water at all around the house - but some of our neighbors aren't quite so careful.)
