Wow! Smith and Wesson .44 Hand Ejector 1st Model "New Century" is paid for,, I think...?

anyway, two very nice round butt N frames, and a wheel barrel full of cash later, I'm the proud owner? of a 1916 .44 Smith and Wesson Hand Ejector 1st Model? the pictures weren't great, I asked for more, OK, but still not great?? (yes, like the gun pictures I take), sorry.

my kool sales dude has had this horrible flu,, so his back-up, also kool, was having trouble emailing my FFL, (who has also had this nasty flu), to ask for a copy of his FFL!

So? What should I expect, when?, if?, this supposedly original finish?, 115 year old Smith and Wesson finally arrives at my FFL???? Yes, I will try to upload pictures, who knows how that will go? my FFL may kick me out of his house, LOL

Now that this may happen??, what if its not "love at first sight"?, yes it does have a 3 day return?? I picked up a .38 Hand Ejector at the gun show yesterday, nice gun, has been shot? seemed pretty loose for as nice as it looked?? but was very, very smooth..

Way out of my comfort zone financially, but, this has been on my bucket list for a while? I'm trying to manage my expectations and be realistic.

Triple Locks can multiply in the dard over the years. First, there was a 455 that got sold to help pay for a 44. For our 30th anniversay, my wif with my son's help, surprised me with a 5" 44. The fiver is very finish challenged but all TL and one of my favorites. Over the years, 3 more joined the herd, the most recent has only the smallest traces of original finish. Guess I'm like these Colt guys and their 1st gen SAAs I just love them all. So, I'm betting that you will love yours. Congratulations on joining the club.

Here's my newest: a 7.5" fixed sight with a Red Head brand contemprary holster and a period reloading tool. The lack of finish is at least partially made up for by the fact that S&W is believed to have only made fewer than a dozen long tube fixed sight variants.

Buying based on pictures can be tricky. Interpreting photos has become a specialty of mine when looking at guns that interest me. The obvious stuff is always apparent, such as buggered screws or chipped stocks and are certainly red flags. Clear, closeup photos that show every ding and scratch are helpful in making a purchase decision, but my experiences (literally in the hundreds) have shown me that many of those small imperfections disappear to the naked eye when seeing the gun in the flesh. Seeking perfection can be a fool's errand when looking for grail guns, and I've missed out on some good ones because of that.

hard not to fall in love with a triple lock. mine was a sad gunsmith special at LGS with missing parts. somewhere in the past, the barrel was cut down to 5 inches and re-blued, most stamps and markings were buffed out... Mine has a low S/N, first year of production ;-)

Thank you Gents

Congrats on the acquisition, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Post some pictures when it arrives, until then, here's one I got last year from 1913. It came with the Heiser rig.

Thank you Gents for showing all these pretty triple locks, and thanks even more for you kind words of encouragement, I really can't wait to see mine.

Triplelock

I got my two, .455 and .44 in the good old days of "Old Town Station". When the catalog showed up I would have to check finances and the War Chief before I could pick out a treasure.

A brave man! let's just say, as per the ABC agencies, we are "off the books" with our recent acquisition, and our own "Elon Musk", DOGE, "Miss DOGE", bank manager, (she really is), does know that our recent acquisition has been partially funded by the off loading of a couple of very nice round butt N frames,, but may be "unaware" of the wheel barrels full of cash???

Bless your heart!

I no longer call "HER" the "Honey Badger" out loud, certainly not to her face!! the absence of certain digits that I might have previously wagged in her direction,,, well, let's just say it discourages such "overt" displays of manhood!!!

"Carry ON! men!
