Some of you remember that two weeks ago Ruthie lost her favorite cat. Pepsi had been by her side for 19 years and she still misses her. That left us with 5.

A while ago a neighbor and friend knocked on our door. She told Ruthie that these were 6 weeks old and she couldn't keep them and did Ruthie want one.

Like Mr Creosote she said: "I'll have the lot."

Ruthie and the kids are besides themselves with joy. The other 5 cats are not as thrilled.

Meet the new additions:

I love seeing my family this happy. Let the naming begin!

Reminds me of when our cat had kittens. She had 8 of them, all healthy and active. Raising them was like being at the circus everyday. We fell in love with all of them but had to find homes for them. It was 5 years ago but I still think of them at times and hope they are well.

On the farm, I at one time, I once had 35 mommas and kittens. I tried to train the kids NOT TO FEED THE CAT BY THE BACK DOOR! I failed! Open the back door and get mobbed. I had a couple of stray Tom Cats come in and start killing kittens, which I detest! This was in the time frame when I had a 150 and 200 foot 22 range set up in the yard, all my cats were use to gunfire. One evening I open the back door, and the mob (Officially known as a Clouder of Cats) charged the door. I aimed my 422 at an empty spot on the ground, and fired two rounds. Only the two wild tom cats ran, making only two more shots necessary!

As to naming. The First cat we had was an unweaned male whose mom got hit by a car. He was so tiny, but my 5 and 4 year old sons stayed with him! They would dig into trash piles and find "Baby Mice" all pink a about 2" long (actually baby rats) and taught the kitten to hunt. As the kitten grew into an adult, he never got very large but was the toughest cat I've ever seen. The boys had named him, Sampson! He went the way of most farm cats and never made it home one day, most likely Coyotes!

In Sampson's honor, all black cats after that were named Sampson. The last was Sampson XVII, which was one of 8 female Sampsons!

We love strays!

We have 3 right now.
"The girls" are all inside cats.

Many more have blessed us, but time has taken them.
They all made an impact on our life, and all are very fondly remembered.
Each occupies a special place in a window sill, or their favored spot.

We love dogs too, but our location isn't safe for outside "wandering".
Too many bigger, meaner critters outside.
Maybe someday...

We have 5. Jumbolia and O'Malley came from the shelter. Cousin came from wife's mom, Gabby showed up as a barely grown kitten (probably dumped) Buddy is about 1/2 grown and he showed up as a tiny kitten near the wood pile a (also most likely dumped)

Always had dogs growing up, but been watching kitties and puppy's on you-tube (mistake) and they are sooo CUTE!

Maybe if I could teach a cat to bark at strangers when they come to the door.

Adorable kitty cats!
