I really like my 627 & I'm sure the Performance Center knows what they're doing but I gotta tell ya..That is not very much metal between them chambers. Or perhaps all those holes just make it appear thin.

S&W has been making them for a good little while (I bought my first in December, 1997) and we get no reports of people blowing them up. S&W's engineers knew what they were doing!

I always believed that a "six shooter" should have six holes and until recently wouldn't buy anything with more than six holes.
I recently succumbed to the desire for the Ruger LCR in .22lr with 8 holes. I have to admit I like it, but still resist the need to get anything bigger than a .22lr with more than six holes. I guess I'm just old fashioned, with the emphasis on "old".

I do like revolvers because of their inherent reliability and the idea of 8 rounds of .357 is attractive, but if I feel I need that many rounds I'd probably move up to my XD-45 and take that edge of stopping power and capacity.

Thought crossed my mind as well...

Great looking revolver and yes that's a lot of holes in a cylinder to a old guy that has never owned a revolver that held more than 6.

I've been eyeing these for awhile. A 627PC may be my next purchase.

Yeah me too, but guess I'm picky, will hold out for a pre-lock and a seller who doesn't know quite what he has :D. I have told my wife on more than one occasion if I run across a pre-lock PC gun for cheap I will be asking for forgiveness when I get home!

Well hkcavalier, we both missed him. A fellow locally (Philly suburbs) on Armslist was asking $850 for one (PC to). I wonder if he got it? I wanted to cry when I saw that I missed by about four hours. To the early bird....

I just paid nearly $200 more for a new one with the IL.

Been shooting one for several years and it shoot great. I don't put many heavy loads through it though. I don't need the recoil for plinking.

Well, some years ago, I JUMPED at the chance to buy my 686+ with 7 rounds. I don't abuse it and I wouldn't abuse an 8 rounder (or any gun, but you know what I mean) but I think the extra round count is just doggone cool!

I finally posted a picture of that puppy, too!

How do I get it here? Hmmm...

Hey a bored out V8 motor appears the same way. Thin walls to stuff in more of the good stuff. Eight is great!

Just bought one yesterday! Pick it up Friday! I can't freaking wait, 8 rounds of heart stopping, hand stinging .357. Way to cool:)

Nice looking UDR, WWW. It's too bad there is not enough room for more holes.
I received this 627 PC today (purchased from another forum member) and because the 5" barrel is not original to this gun i am considering send it to Performance Center and have them swap in a 2 5/8" barrel.

My 627 sees a lot of .357 Magnum handloads. It handles everything with ease. Despite the extra chambers I think the weak part of the cylinder is still going to be the cylinder stop notches directly over the chambers. But it doesn't make any difference with any sane loads.
