IMO there is a huge difference between killing unsuspecting and defenseless kids and women and stopping an aggressive and determined man intent on doing you harm.
Can a 22 kill? Absolutely. That proves little. It's been used to kill large steers with one shot when they are confined. Now get that steer mad and turn him loose to stomp you, still want that .22?
