The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is now showing on Netflix.
It’s- well , different.
But it’s a Coen Bros production, you expected something else?
It’s 6 completely different non related stories of the Old West.
I recommend you watch, even though I actually didn’t like a couple of the stories.
No spoilers here, but There are some weird story lines.
You want a more straight forward traditional super well done Western mini series?
Godless. Really good!

Thank you for the heads up!

I hadn't heard of this yet. I'm a big fan of the Coen brothers, so I'll definitely be checking this out.

And in "O Brother...", Tim Blake Nelson had all the best lines!

Oh, George, not the livestock!

We thought you was a toad!

As posted above, Tim Blake is Buster Scruggs, which is the lead story.
It’s kind of a ‘ flip-comical ‘ story of stereotypical movie hero gun fighters.
Some of the others aren’t quite that humorous!
You’ll know it when get there!
You’ll say -This must be one of those he was talking about!

I loved it. Some laughs, some heartbreak, some chills.

The Indian fight with Mr Arthur was extremely well done.

Some nice call backs to other Coen films - Grandma Turner and the chicken dumplings among others.

Just watched it again today.

Liked Delmer a lot s the san saba gunslinger and the wagon train segment with the Henry rifle. The gold miner was also cool as was the the banker with pans for protection. Only one I didn't enjoy was the thespian Meal ticket. Enjoyed the showing over all and completely different than normal.

I liked it enough to consider watching it again in a few days. IMHO, Fargo and No Country for Old Men were both better.

Since I was born and raised in Fort Morgan (Colorado), the last episode caught my attention. I don't think of my home town as Hell, but my wife thinks the movie got it right.

The best line in the movie is the hanging scene when the cowboy turns to the whimpering guy next to him on the scaffold and asks: "First time?"

I watched it yesterday spread out over the day. That's what it's best for, 6 short flicks for times when you do not want to watch a whole movie. I think most members will not like the 3rd one, the limbless orator, but the 2nd, the bank robber, 4th, the miner, and 5th, the wagon train, make up for it. The first one, Buster Scruggs, is too silly but none of the others are anything like it so if you do not appreciate its humor skip it.

I watched it yesterday and loved most of it. the Buster Scruggs one busted me up and I was laughing at the most bloody parts. Unique characters, great dialog, beautiful photography, dark humor and intense violence all bundled up together. Singer Tom Waits is a very good actor and could be mistaken for Nick Nolte as the prospector. His, the bank robber, and the wagon train episodes were excellent, too.
SPOILER ALERT QUESTION BELOW! DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT!

I missed part of the last one in the stagecoach. We’re they all going to Pergatory in that hotel or something?

Me too! I plan to watch it all again, soon.
I will pay more attention to the conversation in the stagecoach.

I really enjoyed The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Very ecclectic stories.

But Godless was absolute drivel.

People seem to like it. A lot.
