Viewed 1982 Net-Flix "The Border" movie starring Jack Nickelson, Harvey Keital, and Warren Oakes.
I think(?) Jack was using a "Pre-War Model 27 3.5"? Appeared to have the "Hump Back" hammer.
Noticed this at the Movie's end during the gunfight.

I saw that a couple times way back when. I always thought Jack and Harvey Keitel carried 4" Model 28's. There was one with Charles Bronson as a B.P. from the same era and he carried what looked like a 4" Model 28, too.
I'd watch the Border again but the chick he married that was a spendaholic just drove me crazy!

I saw this movie shortly before I entered on duty with the BP in 1982. In those days we were allowed to carry any American made 3.5" to 4" barrel length .357 revolver. I saw all kinds of different models when I was in, I carried a privately owned Model 28 after the academy and after getting issued a stainless Ruger in the academy. We had 19's, 66's, Rugers, Colt Border Patrols (these were getting pretty rare while I was in, but a few were still floating around), and a few N frames. I even had a coworker who hard chromed a Python and carried that for awhile. I told him that that was a criminal offense in some jurisidictions! Shortly before I entered on duty the old timers were telling me that 1 of the agents was killed by his wife with his carry gun, a 3.5" Model 27, after he came home muy borracho 1 night and decided to tune her up, and she punched his 10 ring with his gun.

So basically, it's liable that they were carrying a prewar 3.5". BTW I heard that the BP didn't like they way they were portrayed in that movie and refused to cooperate with the production. Other border movies that were good for "after hours training with adult beverages" were "Borderline" with Charles Bronson and "The Border Incident".

We're dealin' with one damn smart pollero.

I finally obtained a DVD of Borderline and was watching it with my oldest daughter. When we got to the part where ole Wilfred Brimely walks up to the back of the truck and is shot by the smuggler she made me pause it. She contemplated it a few moments then asked me if I ever walked up to cars or trucks alone in the middle of the night, said "sure, that's what I do, all the time". She processed that for a minute and asked my why, only reply I had was that it was my job. Then she yelled at me that I could get shot while pointing at the TV as she stormed from the room, I guess it was an unexpected reality check for her. She returned a minute later and we continued watching. She enjoyed every second of the movie, except Wilfred's last scene.

According to imfdb, guns in movies, Nickolson was wearing a S&W mod 28, with a 4 inch barrel.
