It started off real slow, but now…..
Last month I picked up a model 39-2, because I had one years ago, and shouldn't have traded it off. After watching all the threads on the older S&W autos, it got me. Last night I got a 410 40S&W, and tomorrow I pick up a 439. There's three I really want to find, a 4506, a 659, and a 4043 ( the 4043 was an issued gun at one of my previous LE jobs). I'll post the 439's photo when I get it. Along with the other two.

I'm right there with you.
Honeymoon phase right now.
Eyes as big as plates for anything I'm interested in.
I'm kind of nearing the end of collecting all of the models barrel links, and finishes that I am interested in, And yesterday I picked up the first exact duplicate of something I already have.

If there is, you won't find it here. We're nothing more than 3rd Gen enablers.

I have a 5906, 5946, 6906, 6946, 3913TSW (both versions) 3953TSW, 3913Lady Smith, 3914NL, CS9, two 457s, 3914DAO.

Every time I think I have all the variations I want, something else falls into my gun safe.

Is there a cure??

no help here

I feel bad for you as you're going down a hole that has no bottom. I started with a Model 39-2 over 30years ago and the desire to buy still hasn't stopped. The sickness looks like this....

It is so ironic that a seemingly good sized amount of people enjoy Third Generation autos. I remember when their reign pretty much came to an abrupt end. Not trying to start an argument, just remembering history. And yes, I know, several will say they always appreciated their qualities.
Full disclosure, I am a fan of da/sa autos. Not S&W's, but still a fan.
Kinda like revolvers, I suppose.

Posts like this always disturb me. I have a few 3rd Gen pistols on "my list" and posts like this only mean someone else has just increased demand. And you know what happens with the law of supply and demand when demand goes up and supply doesn't. So...please stop it. :)

Basically I've been a revolver person for quite a while. Then I inherited a very nice 39-2 from my Dad. It was too nice to take out and get beat up so I decided to get one S&W metal framed 9mm semi auto. I looked at Gens 1, 2, & 3, single stacks and double, alloy, stainless, and blue. After much soul searching, I settled on Gen 2, and wanted stainless, so I started with a Model 639, then added a couple of blued slides (one with a red dot and the other with a NOS set of Millett adjustables).

As an old retired guy, my gun budget isn't all I would have wanted, but by picking and assembling this one gun, I can fulfill all of my needs for 9mm on one platform. I'm a shooter, not a collector, so this works for me.
