The car you wish you still had.

65 Olds 442 with all the factory goodies. Car handled like a dream. Drove out west thru Montana when they had no speed limit on the highways - cruised steady at over 100mph - never passed up a gas station.

I had a "59" red T-Bird and took a picture of it one day with my girl friend sitting on the hood looking real pretty. I got rid of the T-Bird, but I still have the girl friend.

1997 F250 Heavy Duty 4WD...It was just too big for me to park after I had a stroke in 2002...but, I LOVED that truck...It was built like a tank and would go through everything.

I don't really miss any of them. I actually enjoy whatever I've got at the moment.

I've never owned one of those muscle cars that everyone seems to miss, though.

Only sports car I ever owned was a Honda Prelude.

Those things are much faster than they look. Supposed to be limited at 149. I never had mine over 135.

But it was just fine at that speed. Stable as a rock.

But I don't really miss it. I'm not really a sports car guy.

It will always be my 1970 Chevelle SS396 with a Tonawanda Racing Group 402. Very fast, and just generally cool. Joni, nice Challenger. What are the problems with the new ones?

I always liked the old large cars. Had a 64 coupe deville, lincoln mark 92 etc, but my flasheist was a 67 dodge monico 500. I will find a picture later. Thing was chrome about a 1/3 way up the door, fire engine red, white roof, white leather coupe. Probley the heaviest, largest two door dodge ever made. Also had about a 72 huge chrysler that could run on propane. Tank took up the entire large trunk.

My list of favorites: 67 Camaro R/s,69 Roadrunner,70 Nova SS 396/375& 85 Monte Carlo SS . I really loved these cars.

I'm just not all that taken with the Challenger. Lots of little nit picky reasons. I guess they're nice but I doubt there's one headed my way. Who knows, maybe in a couple years they'll grow on me.

you guys are killin me. my faves were 66 fairlane gta, 66mustang gt, 67 mustang with k-code 289 motor, 70 boss 302, 80trans-am with turbo v-8 engine. latest fun car pontiac g-8 gt. won't be any more of them.

Maybe I'll figure out a good modern replacement for it one day. (not the new Challenger)

Joni, I am a huge Mopar fan. My jaw hit the ground when I saw your car.

Awesome!! Had a '70 Cuda, 440, with a slap-stick auto, (this was in 1982) it was a little rough but man it was still an awesome car. Until I did one of many stupid high school antics and did a big burn-out and lost control and hit a street light pole.

Very stupid and learned my lesson. Man I wish I had that car.

'74 Trans Am 455 Super Duty. Admiralty blue with white seats, black interior trim, and rear seat console. Power windows and door locks. AM/FM stereo...no 8-track.

Very unusual combination...and oh, Lordy, wish I had it back.

Be safe.

51 CJ2, 283 Chev, 12 V system so the lights worked. Ran like crazy, brakes would scare you but it would climb anything. I am alive today because it's gone, but there are days I miss it.

Nothing really special, but I'd kinda like my '65 LTD two door. (yep, 2 doors)
It had a 352 with a four barrel and dual exhausts. It could move respectably but I gave up drag racing when I got my butt kicked by a Bonneville with a 389. Shoulda got the 390 HyPo.

Ford advertised them as "Quieter than the $16,000 '65 Rolls Royce".
I proposed to my wife in that car.
With one exception mine was identical to the one below. Mine had a pure white vinyl top.

'65 Mustang 2+2 fastback, 289 CID 4-speed, high-speed handling and cornering package, and disc brakes in Ivy Green. Added Marchal driving lights and a Stewart-Warner tach. One of the first 2+2's delivered and it was a head turner! Stop at a service station and a crowd formed. That little baby would fly!

'69 Olds Cutlass, 2-Dr sedan (one of the few 2-Dr sedans shipped), silver with black interior. Ordered with a 3.23 rear end, bench seats, and dual exhaust. Took delivery June 6, 1969...two days after I graduated from high school. What a ride she was. Was totaled in 1972; a guy rammed us while we were stopped at a traffic light.

I miss the days when you could go in a dealership and order the exact options you wanted.

Dunno.. It's a hard call, which is why I have
been dragging on this.. :/
I've had quite a few that I wouldn't mind
having back, either to drive, or to sell and
make $$$$..
Many many of these were ho-hum looking cars,
even if they were fast.
IE: my first car was a 1965 Impala Sport Sedan.
But.. It had one of the first 396's.. Fast car.
I wouldn't mind having it back for nostalgia.
I remember when my dad bought that car new off
the showroom floor when it came out.
I had a 78 Z-28 for a while.. I guess that one
would be fun to try again.
But one of the most fun vehicles I had, and
I'd love to get it back was a 73 VW Van.
icon_confused.gif

It was my work van back then, and was owned by
the guy I worked for. He bought it from the guy
who built it himself in a garage in Bellaire
TX.

But not just any 73 VW Van..
This one was gutted out, and a 307 chevy engine
was installed in the middle of the van behind
the front seats. It had a 4:11 Ford rear end,
and a GM turbo 350 tranny. The radiator was
mounted in the back where the old engine used
to go. It had two electric fans that moved the
air. The plumbing was metal and ran along the
left side wall of the van to reach the engine.
The exhaust came out ahead of the rear wheels
through headers and glass packs. Kinda like
short stubby lake pipes. It sat up in the rear
a good bit, and with the nose down look, and
the side vents, etc, it looked a lot like the
space shuttle.
icon_rolleyes.gif

That van was a blast. Due to the low center
of gravity it was ultra stable, and you would
have real trouble trying to tip it over.
Had the VW rack and pinion steering.
I could get in the middle of a parking lot and
floor it , and spin around in circles until I
let off the gas. In a straight line, it could
bark a 2nd gear scratch if you shifted manual.
I used to get some really funny looks from
people trying to figure out just what in the
heck I was driving. I'd take it to the beach
at Surfside, and idle down the beach..
I'd see serious head scratching as I'd watch
people see me first and think it was the usual
VW, but then I'd get close and they would hear
the Chevy glub,glub,glub.. It was a hoot.
icon_biggrin.gif

I still wonder what happened to that every once
in a while.. The 78 Z-28 was the next vehicle
after the van.. I bought it used, but less
than 10k miles. It was mint and vrooooommm!
It was a dark jade green color.. Looked good.

Now I drive semi old fart mobiles..
