THE CORRECT PRONUNCIATION OF LEUPOLD

Loo-pold

I think the 'e' is in there, just a hint, but it's hard for us to squeeze it in. I don't think anybody will shoot us for that.

I thought for sure Hoppes was pronounced like it was spelled:

Hops

When I got back into shooting I found out it is:

Hop-ees.

What the.........???

PLEASE don't say nuk-u-lar. That is completely inexcusable.

Hops is for drinking. :)

I vote for Lou-poled.

It really surprised me when I found out Hoppe's was pronounced Hop-eez.
I'm sorry, but even if it's wrong, I'm calling it "hops" till the day I die.
Same with SaYko!
I'll give ya Loupold

Never really could afford one so never had to ask for one by name. I caqn say Nikon so most of my rifles have Pro Staff on them. I have never missed because my scope didn't a gold ring.

The correct Germanic pronunciation is "LOY-pold". Being of Germanic descent myself, I have always pronounced it as such. I don't pronounce the Irish Sean as "SEEN", either.

Still trying to figure out if the Savior is "hay-SOOS" or "JEE-zus", though...

In Texas it's Lee o polled

I sometimes think I'm the only Texan who can pronounce Leupold and Sako correctly.

The OP answered the question. The company knows how to pronounce its name. Just listen to their own videos!

Well, since this thread has been resurrected, I've never heard anyone pronounce Sako any way but with a long a.

Say-ko is a Japanese watch. The Finnish rifle is a Socko. Via a Finnish exchange student at my HS, the Finnish Embassy, and company reps at the SHOT show.

Leo-pulled?

Ask whoever corrected you to please show you the O in the "leo" part of "leo-pulled".

'Cause funny, but I don't see it. Just looks like a U, to me. Leu-pold. Lou-polled.

'Course, them are probably the same people that insist it is a "Sake-oh", a "Smith and Weston" or a "Heckler and Cock".

Or, real-it-tour!

WHY DON'T YOU PEOPLE WHO REVIVE THESE OLD THREADS---give suckers like ME a warning about these threads. Saves one from getting LOO POLD in again............................................
.........................................................................................

........................................................................................:D:D

What's fun about this resurrected zombie thread is how some people get grouchy or angry in defending their right to mispronounce the company name.

Well, the OP hasn't even logged in to the forum in almost two years.

I can draw at least two conclusions from that.

1. By now, he's more than likely figured out how to pronounce Leupold.

2. After almost two years, he probably couldn't care less how any of you guys think it should be pronounced.
