Can someone tell me the difference, between an M&P .40 and a SD40VE. They look the same to me except for some cosmetic differences:confused:.

The main difference would be the changeable backstraps allowing for changes in the grip. The trigger mechanization is a lot better and has aftermarket support for modification. Overall just a step up from the SD series.

Been away for a week. Thank You for the great info handgunner356. Now the only problem I can see or have is the great price difference between the models. Because the style and functioning difference are so minimal.:D

i have the sw40ve(more commonly known as the sigma) and i ialso have a m&p40c. the sigma and the sd40 were 2 separate lines and S&W took the best of both and replaced them with the sd40ve. having the "parent" of the sd and having the more expensive m&p, i would opt for the m&p every time. it is just a more comfortable and easier gun to shoot.

I own a SW40VE and an SD40VE have shot both side by side along with a M&P40 from the range I go to. No difference in function at all to me. I prefer the SD to the M&P just on price.alone. I can buy 2 SD's for the price 1 M&P. In 9 & 40, I'll take that all day long. :D
