Active shooters in schools: The enemy is denial

Great article from a daylong seminar presented by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman.

Also at the same site, a response to the Newtown tragedy:
Active shooters in schools: Should teachers be trained by police firearms instructors?
..........
Sir, thank you for this link. It is absolutely the best presentation of the situation and a solution. I will be passing it to my local school board immediately.

2hawk.... Thanks so much for sharing this. This is the most common sense talk I have heard in a long time. I am a Fire Fighter so it really hits home. I carry my Off Duty Fire Gear in case I come across a problem, rather it be at home or on the streets, so why would I not carry My gun. I would not go to work with all my tools and do not spend my off time with out some tools. How true is his statements!!!!!! I am sharing this with everyone I know. I will continue to read this as more of his information comes.. Man Thanks for sharing!!!!!

Excellent article. I never really thought about how a school prepares for a fire yet how do they prepare for a gunman? My wife works in our local elementary school and she and I discussed the following........... I suggested 1) tempered glass on all ground floors 2) only ONE entry point to the school and it is a double entry point, two doors. The first is metal detection and that is where the SRO is (school resource officer) if there is metal detected. 3) in every room an emergency button (like the kind of emergency stop on power equipment). Once hit, ALL doors shut and lock. We must be proactive in securing our schools and anticipate what will happen to neutralize it.
