THE ENEMY NEXT DOOR

We should be building up Mexico's economy instead of China's. China is on the other side of the world. Mexico is next door. If we help make Mexico more economically attractive it would help our situation in many areas, one being that people will have other sources of income rather than by the drug trade. It would also give people less reason to illegally immigrate.

Just a thought, probably full of holes but it's an idea, anyway.

We should worry about rebuilding our own economy and let Mexico take care of Mexicans and China take care of Chinese.

^^^What he said is spot on. I am not a smart man, but, I have worn out more than one pair of shoes asking questions. If we do not stand our ground for our beliefs and values, we will be trampled on the grounds on which are beliefs were built and then buried under its blanket.

fence? Fences have ends-cartels have boats and use them.. fences have tops and bottoms:cartels dig tunnels, carry ladders, cut fences. Cartels use airplanes, catapults, humans as mules and walk through check points. They use bribery and threats to get massive amounts of drugs through.

The Israeli fence helps, but the Israelis are in a state of war all the time. Armed men attack through the fence, rockets are launched over it, little kids and women are strapped up with vests and pointed at the check points. Kind of like putting a bandaid on a heart attack. The Israeli army and air force are used frequently on both sides of the fence, and it still doesn't stop. The terrorists use deep tunnels to import weapons.

So plant a few sea minefields too--end of cartel problem.

Brownsville to El Paso is about nine hundred miles of border. That's about 4.75 million feet. Put a mine every six feet or so, 100 feet deep. That's over twelve and a half million mines.

The current military establishment is about 3 million people, maybe. With a 1:12 ratio of "tooth to tail", that would be about 250,000 for a troop every 19 feet but only one shift per day. Multiply that by about 4 for three shifts plus time off the line.

With a length of 50 feet, there would be 95,000 rolls of concertina wire for one length. Realistically there would be four rolls per 50 feet for 380,000 rolls of wire. And that's for the B'ville to El P border.

El P to San Diego is about 800 miles of border so double the first numbers for the whole stretch.

Now, I'm just a civilian (engineer, though) and Coyle is a 12-year professional so my numbers are somewhat of an educated guess.

It puts a different perspective on the problem when you actually run the numbers, doesn't it.

A different perspective--not really. They have:helocopters, jets, cars, trucks, tanks infrared vision etc. No,I think we can hold our own easily enough. Also, dont forget the civvy militias that HAVE been active and HAVE been helping out law-enforcement agencies, plus many others who are just sick and TIRED,of the govt refusing to do more.

I grew up on the border in AZ. 10 miles from it to be exact. I don't live there anymore but I spent last winter camping along the border in AZ and NM, mostly on BLM land. Never had a problem and didn't see anyone hoofing it on foot across the desert. Maybe they were moving at night while I was asleep. ;). I did however see an army of Border Patrol, maybe 3 or 4 everyday. They came through our camp several times and I talked to a few of them. You can OC in AZ and NM and I did when I was hiking. They said it was a good idea being in the boonies.

I'm suspicious of any media reports of waves of people coming across the border undetected. I think some make it across illegally but I'm skeptical of the numbers reported by the media. I think mostly the one's they catch now have been here for awhile.

I see drugs as a separate issue also. They tear down a lot of vehicles at the border but they can't find it all. The Coast Guard catches a lot of it but they don't get it all either. I saw several of these "TARS" in my travels.

That's a tough one to get around.
