At least that is what it says on my new 44 Military gold picture box.

Thanks to RBURG, he put me in touch with a man who had one.

When you get tired of that tired old thing and want a shiny new stainless whatever let me know and I'll take that old clunker off your hands. Have fun and enjoy, that's my favorite Smith that ever was.

Allen,
Now that you have a box, I might consider an even trade for my ported 629 that you like.
You might mention that your gun shoots as good as it looks. I think that you have a real keeper there.

Congrats - Big Time - Wonder if I have a claim for the finest small caliber revolver ---

I, for one, do not find S&W's claim to be inflated in any way...they certainly could not be convicted of false advertising if I were the judge!

I did go to the range. I shot it......................

I love taking apart an old one (55 years like me) and cleaning it.

Thank you for posting this thread. Classic guns shown with targets. I love the pics.

Owning and shooting the finest large caliber revolver in the world? You, sir, are a good man of distinction. If we ever meet it would be my privilege to shake your hand....or even buy you a Daniel Webster seegar.

Couldn't be better, Allen..... .. and I like the way you take care of your guns!

Thanks for posting - and I'll keep looking for one of those myself!

Jerry

That's just wrong, Allen. I've been looking all over for one, and actually have a line on it if I can get an old pal to let me trade him out of it. Very nice.

All your stuff is awesome Allen,

The funny story behind this one is that a few months ago I saw the same gun at the same place and told him about it.

Either I didnt explain it too well or he had bigger fish to fry at the moment....

FATE brings the ones to you that you are meant to have .

Congrats

Allen,
I love 'em too.
I'm not clear on what you just got- the box or the package?
You have a 1950 in a 1926 box. While I have seen 1950's shipped in 26 boxes, the boxes always had a sticker or grease pencil modification to signify the later model.
Is it numbered to the gun? Not knocking it, just always trying to learn more.
