The first of many lasts - my final qual.

Just saw this thread......congratulations on a well earned retirement and many thanks for your service.

Retirement is to be enjoyed.......just stay busy doing things and going places you like. :)

I was afraid of retirement and postponed it as long as I could. Now, retirement in Nevada is sweet. The worst part of retiring was turning in my badge on the last day. You'll understand when you turn in yours.

I suppose it depends on your agency. For me, I had no qualms about turning-in my badge and gear. I gave my wallet badge to my niece as a souvenir. As I was walking to my car, I couldn't have felt a stronger sense of relief. And I wasn't the only ex-employee who felt that way. Management in some law enforcement agencies is woefully lacking. Our attrition
rate was nearly 60%.

L retired 10 years ago next week. Took my issued P-220 with me as a parting gift. My department transitioned to the Glock 22 &23 in 2003 but those (within 5 years of retirement) that wanted to keep their SIGs could.

You could get your LEOSA and qualify yearly with a bunch of retirees ad talk about the good old days! I do!

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement and thank you, for both your military and FBI service! All my very best, Joe.

yep. seven six Saturdays and a Sunday. My last LEOSA qualifier was with a 3" model 13 and a Sig 228.. My old duty 226 lives somewhere handy in my house.

We were allowed to keep our badges, one officer, one sergeant, and in my case, one lieutenant. My flat badge was shipped back to Blackington and "RETIRED" "LIEUTENANT" ribbons mounted on it. I keep them all in my safe.
