The First Three Cars You Owned

1. 1970 Torino Cobra 429 4 speed. Awsome first car for a 17 yr. old kid.
2. 1973 GTO 400 automatic.
3. 1973 K5 Blazer 307 3 on the tree.

I worked 2 part time jobs at gas stations to pay for the Torino and keep gas in the tank. This was in 1974, my senior year in high school. In 1976 it was turning into a rust bucket so I traded it on the GTO. I only had it a year and needed a 4x4 for work so it got traded on the Blazer.

my first car was a green 69 mustang, paid 600 dollars for it in 1975,the sad part is i can't remember what the next two were.I think a ugly mustang ll,then a cutlass supreme.

1963 Fairlane Sport Coupe, black, with red buckets. 260 and Fordomatic, man was it slow, but good looking.
1967 Falcon Sport Coupe, Amber with black buckets. 289 auto.
1969 Boss 302 Mustang, Bright Yellow, 4 speed, 3.91 gear, not stock, 12:1 TRWs, big Crane solid lifter cam.

79 F-150 300-6, 3 on the tree 290,000. Cracked the block in 6 places. Sold it for $300
89 F-150 351W C6 Auto 230,000. sold it for $2,500
98 F-150 5.4L Auto 27,000 - Rolled at 70mph. Sold it for $4,900

My first car that I bought was a Mini Cooper. Then a toyota rav4. The third is going to be a 370z here in a few months.

The first car I had was a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster. Not this one....but close.

Florida Guy, I don't know how you fit in that MG Midget either. In 1971 my buddy and I took his 1967 Midget on a two week tour of Lake Huron. We managed the bare essentials and a pup tent in the trunk. We even spent one night sleeping in that little car during a rain storm and too poor to afford a motel.
It was a great time in that little car and a time I'll never forget driving top down and not a care in the world.

My 1st was a wore out '65 Plymouth Belvedere, 2nd was a '71 Firebird Formula, 3rd was '80 Cutlass Supreme. Wish I had my Formula back.

'59 VW...$25..hand painted black w/a brush. Pulled the engine out the first week I had it to put a main seal in it it leaked oil so bad.
No heat and a stick kept under the hood used to check the gas tank level as there was no gas gauge.
Gas tank in front of the driver,,what a good idea..

'60 Chevy Biscayne 6cyl, 3 on the tree. $75 ..A real boat but it ran pretty good. didn't need the keys to start it,,just turn the ignition switch.
With a good head start it would make most hills in 2nd.

'60 Ford Galaxy 500 HT. $200...A real step up! AT/PS/PB/ The engine & trans rebuilt. Ran beautifully.

That's the first 3 anyway,,nothing spectacular for sure,,just like everything else at the time.

1966 Chevrolet Bel Aire
1973 MG Midget
1978 GMC Heavy-Half 2WD pick-up truck

1st car was a 1950 Dodge straight 8 engine and a semi auto trans, you needed to shift into 1st gear then everything was automatic. burned oil so bad everywhere I went there was a smoke screen. It didn't have any exhaust pipes came straight from the manifold. Could not hear the radio with the engine running. The engine sieged up, ran out of oil. this was a hand me down from my dad

Second car 1965 Plymouth, 265 V8 automatic trans push button shift on the dash. Parked it between a tree and telephone pole about 36" apart. paid 50 bucks

third car was also a 1956 Plymouth, 200 horse straight 6 three on the tree. used oil bad. Took it to school and rebuilt the motor and patched the body in auto shop. many of the parts came from the old Mid Night Auto Supply Co. all the gas and brake lines were copper as it was kind of free. A pound of hamburger goes a long way with making friends with junk yard dogs. I drove that until I joined the Air Force in 1966.

First new cars was a 1970 Boss 302 fastback with 4 speed manual trans. It was a Graber Orange with a red Interior.

first three cars were a 1931 Model A, 1959 Impala rag top and a 1957 Beetle. I only have the following pic. Wish I still had the Chev. too.

Here's me in the A in 1964. It was my only car for 2 years. I did a ground up, every nut and bolt restoration during my last 2 years in HS. I took it to my graduation events in '64, I still have the car.

I bought, fixed up, and sold cars for a few years. I had 20 vehicles before I was 20 years old. Most were pretty average, but there were a couple of standouts:

'79 Toyota pickup with a souped up 20R (it consistently outran all the '80s V-8s my friends had, including an '86 IROC Z)
'63 F-100 (a friend's brother still has that one)
'48 Chevy Stylemaster Sedan
'81 Pontiac Trans Am Turbo (slower than you would think, but it looked good)
First new car was an '87 Acura Integra RS.

1955 Chrysler with the auto gearshift handle on the dash. Would pass everything but a gas station, and in those awful days of 29.9 a gallon gas, I traded for something more economical.

Next, a 1956 VW, no gas gauge, but a "reserve" switch on the floorboard which you changed when you ran out of gas and then you still had another 25 or 30 miles to find more fuel.

Lastly, a 1963 VW, which I drove till some folks decided to turn in front of me and total the car out. The photos appeared in the Ft. Myers NewsPress and my high school principal knew I'd been skipping school. Long story made short-no graduation, no diploma and off to the Army.

Next vehicle I had the opportunity to drive was a US Army jeep in Vietnam but I didn't drive one much. Walking is so much more healthy.

All these pictures were not taken by me, found elsewhere.

1st Car, after 6 months burnt more oil then gas:(
Easily recognized 57 Chevy.

2nd Car, brought me from Boston to Fort Dix NJ every weekend as I completed my 3rd year in the Army. I always smiled going over the George Washington Bridge in NY.
Great car, 65 Buick Skylark.

3rd Car, really had to pay attention to the speedometer, a definite power house.
Total Comfort. Mine was a light blue 65 Buick Riviera.

Well gang, give us a treat and let us see your first 3 autos.

I didn't even want to look at the rest after seeing that Riv! My Dad bought one brand new in 65. I don't remember it, but I have some pics with me next to it. I've wanted one all my life; if you know anybody that would like to trade a nice one for this GT Mustang, let me know. Beautiful car!
