the gray guy

I have nothing against the folk that want to OC, I was simply stating I was glad no one knew I was carrying and everyone new he was. If people want to open carry go for it. i have done it and will again, granted it is usually a "BIG IRON ON MY HIP''

That is a pretty amazing feeling. Really helps you work on your self-control too. My primate brain 🧠 screams to me to tell all my friends I'm carrying but fighting the urge really gives you a sense of being the cool head in the room. The guy everyone can count on without having to know about it. All that said, I'd rather open carry than not at all and like you don't begrudge them. I just view them as possible allies should things go South.

I too prefer to carry concealed. Nothing against those who open carry, but it can draw attention I don't particularly want. Accordingly I CC. With that said, if I'm out in the toolies I typically DO OC, primarily with a large .357 or .44. Why? More power and easier to hit at distance with than my J frame. Different strokes for different folks

I can see both sides. I carry concealed, my choice. I see others doing the open carry thing in public, I take as a deterrent for some miscreants wanting to cause harm.

When I do carry I am very discrete. But I have to admit I kind of get a warm fuzzy feeling when I happen to see that a person is carrying. Either open or momentarily exposed. Despite the what if's...

I was kind of hoping this thread would die and at times wished I hadn't started it...
I agree with mchom, not sure warm and fuzzy is the right feeling when I see someone OC, but I do like the fact that someone is exercising their right to do so, and those that it offends well I can't say where they should go..

The largest gun I carry, outside time hunting, would be a P365. Most times a Seecamp or Ruger LCP MAX. Neither requires belt carry, for me.

I am not gun phobic, carry in the manner you desire.

Here in Northern Ohio, I haven't seen open carry for years. It has been legal for a long time but, I've seen it maybe, three times. I live in the Suburbs of Cleveland so maybe in the Rural areas it my be practiced, I don't know. I only carry concealed. Nobody needs to know that this old guy has Two guns, reloads, and Pepper Spray. He is also trying to pay attention to his surroundings watching people especially walking in parking lots and secluded areas. No problems so far. I just look like every other old man in the crowd.
