Much of life is compromise but with revolvers the biggest might be between one that is fun to shoot and one that is fun to carry.

If you were someone who carries every day, and also shoots every day, and shoots a lot each range trip, and you could only own one revolver, which one would it be?

I can't get by with just one ... but lets look at centerfires .
What I carry is an Air-Weight J-frame 2" 38 special ...
My range / target is a model 64 , K-frame , 38 special , 4" heavy barrel and Millet SP-1 Red Dot sight ... it doesn't fit in my pocket .

But ... if you are only allowed one ... it would have to be the Air-Weight J-frame ... because it conceals and carries much better .

No ... can't have just one ...
I wonder ... is six enough ... is twelve too many ?

Interesting question...most folks that I know, including me, EDC with a small, lightweight pistol or revolver. IMO, those handguns are not really designed for extended shooting on the range- particularly if you're using magnum loads (.357, .41, .44). Recoil can be very stout, and alloy frames will take a beating. However, if you're able to EDC with a larger revolver (K-, L-, or N-frame), then you have lots of options. Over the years I have backed off a little on carrying a large N-frame magnum revolver for most situations, and have come to appreciate the slightly smaller and lighter L-frame 3" Model 686 Plus (7-shot .357 Magnum). Now if I was walking around in bear country, a .41 or .44 Magnum (or 10mm semi-auto) would be my choice. A stainless steel L-frame revolver will literally last forever even when shooting heavy loads, and having 7-rds (along with an additional speed strip) should provide you with comfortable carry and shooting. Good luck with your decision.

I would go with a model 66 with a 4" barrel and feed it a steady diet if .38's with the capabilities of shooting magnum rounds if need be

I hope to NEVER own just one revolver. But..IF i did...it would be my 4" 15-2 USAF my Dad gave me 50 years ago. It really does everything I need a handgun to do, and does it very well.

Same here (but non-USAF). Suitable for any mode of carry except pocket or ankle. But adopting the initial premise of daily carry and daily range time, this would be it. Those I have known who had 2" 15s shot them as well as most 4", and I have pocket carried snubs of that size, but I was younger and stouter then and my pockets were canvas in worsted wool pants.

It will never be one.......NOT ever.........Don't even thing about it.......

Probably a stainless J or K… 60-9 or -10, 65, 66…

but just to rattle some cages, today I'd pick my Charter Bulldog! You don't get a 44 in a light gun with s&w.

Not sure if I could narrow my modest accumulation down to only 1.

For me, it would be a tough choice between my 640-1 Pro (advantage night sights) and 2.5" 66-4 (advantage adjustable sights).
