Disneyland does it again !!!
Effective today (Sunday May 18th) the price for a one day, one park adult ticket is $96.00 (up by $4.00), a child ticket is now $90.00 (up by $4.00). The 1-day Park Hopper adult ticket is now $150.00 (up by $13.00) and the child ticket is now $144.00 (up by $13.00). For a family of four that would be $372.00 just to get in the gate for the day.... $588.00 if you wanted to switch between 2 parks. Oh.... and add on another $17.00 or $22.00 for parking depending on the size of your vehicle.
Guess I won't be going to "The Happiest Place on Earth" anytime in the near (or distant) future !!!

My wife and I

I've never been (We're almost 60). Wife went in High School band trip. We would much rather do natural beauty. The boy has been so I'm out of that obligation, with luck I will never need to go. You're telling about the prices nowadays only reinforces that.:D

If we can get our boy out of trouble, the happiest place on earth would be the walls I'm sitting in now.:)

I've never been. Neither do I have plans to go. Call me a bad parent, but I think that's one experience my son will have to do without.

I have friends that get season passes every year. I guess they like it.

A few years back, I took my then five year old son. On the first night, while leaving the Magic Kingdom, he pulled away from my wife and ran to me. He grabbed my leg and said, "Daddy, thank you so much for bringing me here." I don't remember what the tickets cost now, but I do remember that. So, it was worth whatever the price was.

Wow, we go to Walt Disney World every year and get 7 or 8 day passes for the two of us. Their prices go up every year, but we still think we get our money's worth. You can pack in a lot of fun in a day there. The thing that gets me the most are the prices the restaurants and even their fast food places charge. I don't know how large families afford it.

The restaurants in Universal Studios park are priced more like the restaurants in town.

Unhappiest Girlfriend on Earth

I went once back in '97 or so...the then girlfriend was a Disney nut and she dragged me along. I was walking along for hours not having much fun and wondering what the fuss was all about. Then I saw a bunch of kids in a long line and I asked her what the attraction was? She said that the kids are meeting "Ariel" the Little Mermaid and they sit on her lap for a photo. I took one look at "Ariel" and quickly got in line! :D I did NOT need the air-conditioner on the ride home...it was quite chilly in the car, and quiet too! :o

I went to Disneyland in 1968, I think I was 13 at the time. I know things are much better and more entertaining than what they had to offer in 1968. But I'd rather spend my $80 on a National Park Pass and go see Mother Nature, which we do at least one a year at 2 weeks at a time and sometimes twice depending on funds. Can't say I particularity like noise of people. I like the sounds of the back county.

The folks loaded us 3 kids into the family Chrysler back in 1971 and
off we went to Florida and Disneyworld. To an 11 year old kid it was
almost a religous experience. Dad hauled the 18 foot Wilderness
travel trailer and we camped at a campgound not far from the park.
Only time i've been but i would like to take my 3 grandkids one day
and let them experience what i did as a young boy.
Guess i better start saving the money now from the sound of prices.

I went to Disneyland in Anaheim...

twice when in the Marines. Once with buddies and once with family. Serviceman's discount was the only way I could afford it and this was in the mid 80's.
From what I have read and know from people who have been since it is NOT as I remember. At this point, I feel it is merely a hyper-priced roadside carnival.
There are far better ways to have fun with the family than overpriced everything and long waits for the rides...that applies to ALL current "amusement" parks.

We went down just this past April, 2 kids of midlin age. There are ways to cut corners to save a bit of $$ where able, food, lodging, whatever.

It's not something I'd do every year, and no, I don't need to go for myself. There were plenty of people that thought it was worth it, crowded. It may very well be the last time I(we) go, since the oldest graduates from H.S. in a few weeks.

We took our kids 3 or 4 years ago. While I would rather hoe a tobacco patch all week, my kids really loved it,and they still talk about it very often. I guess that makes it worthwhile. They won't be little long, and it was one of the best times we all ever had together.

Taking the kids to Disney World was the same as shooting the white water rapids on the Colorado River. It was a vacation the kids had the time of their life at, and they still talk about to this day, 15 years later. They're only young once so no matter the price its well worth it.

We ALWAYS went.....

We ALWAYS went to the Smoky Mountains but one summer we headed for 6 Flags (GA). We got as far as Stone Mountain and it was the hottest year on record. My folks asked us if we wanted to go to the Smoky Mountains instead. We couldn't believe our luck. "SURE', we said. Off to Deep Creek campground which is one of the happiest places I've ever been. Its a shame what the place has turned into over the last 40 years.:D

Last time we were there was in the early 80's, when the kids were little. Looks like I'll have to take out a 2nd mortgage if I want to take my grandson.

THEEE NUMBER ONE PLACE TO GO if you like to stand in long lines....

(on edit) Could be the price hike is a humanitarian effort to reduce the length of lines for wealthy folks
