The impact of "NORML" and new marijuana laws

Nah, this is how they're dealing with it:

Feds Slap 70% Tax on Legal Marijuana Businesses

Gotta pay income taxes, can't use any of the standard deductions available to businesses . . .

The real fun will start when somebody from the DEA marches into a state capitol where MJ has been "legalized" and presents a warrant to seize the resulting tax revenue as proceeds from an illegal enterprise. I'm off to buy stock in popcorn even though I can't stand the stuff.

Nothing like taking the fun out of it by legalizing it and bringing in Uncle Sam as a supervisor and business partner. Back in the early 80's it was so much easier to just buy the stuff from friends and "contacts." It was abundant and relatively inexpensive...high school kids with minimum wage jobs could afford to buy the stuff. We didn't have to go through all this legal hassle. Sure, it was illegal, but if you got caught with a baggie of weed, you simply surrendered it to the cop and got a $113 ticket. Even getting busted on occasion was actually cheaper than having to get a license and go to a dispensary, or pay "weight in gold" prices at a precious few outlets where recreational marijuana is sold.

EDIT: There's 50 states, 51 if you count Puerto Rico...and I can say with confidence that if all states eventually legalize...my home state of Ohio will probably be the last one to do it.

Pot smokers will whine they're stigmatized like tobacco smokers. I read of case in Massachusetts, a 55 year old woman was fired, she said she used it, her company had a federal contract that mandated drug testing.
