Hey guys,

I'm sure many of you have seen this AMAZING Model 19 that Elvis owned and presented to Vice-President Spiro Agnew ( and later to the Sheriff of Shelby County TN). This has to be the most beautifully and ornately engraved revolver I've ever seen!

As we all know the King loved his guns, specifically really "purdy" guns. Everybody knows that we lost a musical legend when he died, but as we firearms collectors/shooters know we also lost one of the most prominent and well-known gunnies of all time.

Hail to the King baby!

Very interesting. I knew Elvis had a fondness for guns. There was a man here in town had one of Elvis's .38 revolvers with provenance to back it up but I don't know what happened to it. It was also engraved. The guy had a fatal heart attack about 3 years ago and I don't know what happened to his guns. Thanks for posting.

Pray tell why? Are you assuming that the Presley person is the only person named Elvis?

No, But I'm 100% sure he's the only person named Elvis who is universally referred to as "The King". And there's always the fact that Elvis Costello is still alive....

Geez, and they say my generation doesn't know good music........

Not to mention Elvis Costello is a big supporter of gun control.

"Shakespeare" is William the playwrite. All others must be specified.
"Milton" is John Milton.
"Einstein" is Albert.
"Freud"is Dr Sigmond.

You get the drift. These people defined their own names as iconic symbols of their immense impacts on the world well beyond their crafts.

Elvis was Mr Pressley's real name and "Elvis Costello" is a stage name copied from a king. Fan or no fan, let's not pretend.

A little confused here. Did Elvis gift it to Agnew, get it back then regift to the sheriff or did Agnew gift it to the sheriff? Thanks and appreciate you posting the photo.

I was also a little confused, OK - more than a little.

The video kind of clears it up; he gifted it to Agnew in the early 70's, then after a short while (like a year or two) Agnew gave it back to him.

Sometime down the road Elvis called in some favors with the Shelby County Sheriff's department (they all loved him and vice-versa--check out the cool photo of all the Deputies and Elvis that the Youtube video has) and in thanks for all that they did for him he went and gave this Revolver to the Sheriff of Shelby County.

Elvis also had a pretty extensive collection of Police memorabilia, badges mostly.
