The Korean War Begins - 75 Years Ago Today

Had an uncle that served in Korea .
he wouldn't talk about specific things but you knew there were horrors
When he came home he vowed he'd never shoot a rifle again and became an accomplished archer
Had the biggest archery retail store in western Canada at one time I believe
I remember him getting orders for crossbow bolts and would ship them by the gross to South Africa . Apparently some people there weren't allowed to own guns

...my mother was pregnant with me when my father was shipped out to Korea. My birthday is November 29th and I will be 75 this year. He lost the vision in his left eye in combat, but about the only thing he couldn't do was play ping-pong well due to no depth perception.
He would never really talk much about his experiences but was VERY much against me enlisting when the Vietnam conflict began to heat up.
Same here. Dad served all over the Pacific in WWII and then in the Korean War.

He was one of the most patriotic men I've ever known and dearly loved the military. He was infuriated with the Vietnam situation though and also VERY much against me enlisting.

Pic here waiting to ship out to Korea.
