You have done your duty here sir, Thank You and your brothers- in-arms. Go with God.

Being part native American I will just say thank you Nez and all the others. It will probably never be known how much of a difference you made. I salute you.

A true Hero, and Warrior of a caliber that is unfortunately uncommon. Let us always remember the sacrifices that these Navajo willingly made for their homeland. RIP Mr Nez.

Chester Nez, the last survivor of the first twenty-nine Navajo code talkers, has died at 93.

Flags on Navajo land will be flown at half staff in memory of Nez.

Rest, sir. You made a difference we should all appreciate.

Not to take anything away from the Navajo's but the Choctaw claim to be the first code talkers with them working in WW1. My fathers grandmother was 1/2 Choctaw so if my math is right I am 1/16. Everybody also associates the trail of tears to the Cherokee but the first one was the Choctaw. I wonder if maybe Rodney Dangerfield was a Choctaw?

RIP and thanks for your service.

RIP Corporal Nez

I would highly recommend his book. It gave me many insights to the Navajo nation and what a great people they are and what true heroes Chester Nez and the rest of the code talkers were.

My father died six years ago and when my mother died last year my siblings and I were then privileged to select, in turn, items from my parents house. It was my turn again so I picked a painting, given to my father a while back by his old college roommate (a friend of his for life), that was done by Betian Yaz, also known as Little No Shirt, a Navajo code talker. It remains a prized possession, never to be sold.
