Useless, but i bet all the "im cool" fan boys will jump on it.

So far the prices are at $160 for 20rds in 9mm, and climbing.
 
I tend to prefer GoldDot +P 9mm ammo, but I must admit I alternate rounds within my mags w/ PowRBall +P for its 1,475fps shock value & always reliable feeding !

I think they look cool but I would seriously doubt how well they would feed if your gun was the least bit fussy about ammo.
 
The US military experimented with Flechette rounds in the late 50's and the results were rather discouraging. While they produced wound tracks that were a nighmare in surgery they also produced wounds that were NOT immediately debilitating. So, someone shot with Flechette ammo could keep functioning at a high level for up to an hour or more. This appears to be nothing more than a modern take on that old flechette round and I rather doubt that the tested it by shooting pigs and observing how long it took for them to fall down as was done in hte 50's. Needless to say I'll pass, especially after seeing the reports about the cost.
 
96 gr is too light. My M&P throws brass all over the place if its less than 110 gr. 124 gr ejects nice and clean to the right - not in my face. Besides, if you put the first one where it counts, you won't need these.;)
 
I just got an e-mail from a friend showing this same ammo. It sounds like another ammo duel is forthcoming!! I guess I'm to old to jump on any bandwagon, as several others have stated tried and true for me as well. Although it is interesting to watch the video! See link below! 404 - Document Not Found
 
There's another thread running on this, and I'll repeat what I posted there: given how finicky some pistols can be about feeding certain ammo due to bullet geometry, I can imagine a lot of failures.

In my old age I'm a revolver guy; but if I still used a 9mm I don't think I'd trust my elderly bacon to this stuff.
 
And I'll stick with my Buffalo Bore HEAVY +P 158 Grain LSWCHP-GC Bullet. 1040 fps & 361 foot pounds of energy out of a 2" Chief's Special time after time, accurate and reliable. As far as I am concerned that turns my .38 Special into a .357 Magnum without all the muzzle flash, ridiculous recoil from a 19 oz. snubby, and deafening noise.

That said, this new round is very impressive on Watermelons! I will keep that in mind for next Summer's Memorial Day BBQ.......... :)
 
I like it!! it is great. I Would not use it for SD, not yet, But about 170 yrs ago a pointed bullet (Minie ball ) was the "hot " round. Look at the tubular bullet from PMC in the 1980's, the Talon, current bonded bullets its all good. I like and use Ranger talon/ Gold dot, but if I get a watermelon permit!! Be Safe,

Video looks impressive. I like that machine pistol. I'd like to see the .40 and .45 versions. The prisons are full of people with 9mm scars.
 
It looks like a solution in search of a problem to me, but to each their own. Personally, I don't like carrying anything with a sinister sounding name (R.I.P. round? Really?!?). It sounds like a long explanantion in court if you have to use it.

Speaking of the marketing, did anyone else get a little tweaked at the claim to "defeat all known barriers"? Think it will defeat an M1 Abrams?

Same with Hornady's FTX loads (Z-Max, Critical Defense, Critical Duty). Completely unproven in the real world and yet people are loading up their guns in droves and trusting their life to it.

The G2R R.I.P. bullet design is nothing like or similar to the SPIW/SALVO cartridge design.
 
I need to get into the ammo selling business. I'll stick to Winchester PDX1 ammo for now. At 242.00 a box of 20, I can buy about 10 boxes of Winchester instead.

I'm pretty sure that's a cartridge collector(s) running up the price. That's the only way it's some what logical.
