The Last Supper....

I forgot the coffe

I'll go along with the Paella, a bit of Vino, Pecan pie, a shot of my home made Limoncello, and a good cup of coffee. Ready!

I agree..... a good cup of hot coffee would finish things off nice...

As some of you may know, I really enjoy cooking. Even though there are thousands of recipes available on the internet, I have a large collection of cookbooks, as I tend to be "Old School".

One of my cookbooks is titled "My Last Supper". It provides a look at 50 of the worlds top chefs and asks them an interesting question...... If you knew it was your last day, what would you make for your own last supper? The answers vary from complex meals to incredibly simple ones.

For me, it would be a world class charcoal grilled cheeseburger (cheddar) with the basic lettuce, tomato, and onion. It would be served with some excellent French fries along with a bucket of ice, holding several bottles of cold beer. I would want to enjoy this meal with all of my close friends and family.

If you knew it was your last day and could choose your last meal, what would it be?

Add a couple slices of bacon and I'm in.
Roast turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes etc would be a close second.

I would have to say Thanksgiving dinner. Roast turkey, stuffing, candied yams, mashed taters & gravy, creamed onions, and cranberry sauce, washed down with champagne. Then pumpkin pie and a large brandy. Followed by a nap!

Yesterday I had the cooking chores. Fried chicken livers for supper.

Today was her turn, boudin, no picture of them, they disappeared fast. :)

For me a I'll start with a French 75 made with a good Cognac.

Next, a small bowl of my wife garlic herb soup with a crusty baguette with good Isigny-sur-Mer butter.

A simple tossed green salad with blue cheese dressing.

Grilled rack of lamb with a bourbon cream sauce and maybe some summer squash.

A bottle of Gruet Brut with dinner. A good Malbec or Merlot might be a choice of many but a heavy red over powers the soup and bourbon sauce. A good dry Champagne works well with this meal.

For dessert it would be my wife's apple pie and a slice of a good extra sharp slice of white cheddar.

Then it would be a not so wee dram or two of Highland Park 15 year old Scotch Whisky with a well aged H Unman Sir Winston.

dinner a couple of weeks ago.
