The "Lucky" Addition To My M&P Collection

Last Saturday night my Son and I attended our local "NRA" Banquet. I have never won anything in my life, and typically, can't and don't, spend a ton on raffle tickets, but I splurged for me, and bought the $100 raffle ticket bundle. To my amazement and surprise, my number was the second drawn, for the Rifle drawing. I chose the Smith and Wesson M&P 15 Sport Rifle. I am so very excited and pleased to have actually won the rifle, and be able to add it to my collection of M&P's. Yesterday I got some extra magazines and 200 rounds of Federal 223 Rem. FMJ's, and tomorrow it's off to the range to shoot.

Good job! Definitely lucky. I never win anything either, maybe I'll save my money for the next firearm raffle lol. Nice collection you've got there. I'm leaning towards a shield for my next purchase but can't find one in town anywhere. How do you like yours?

Thank You, and yes it was very lucky to be sure. I buy some raffle tickets at these dinners, but maybe $20-$50 tops. I saw the rifle in the flier and then to see it there and have a chance to win it, I couldn't resist. I felt like a kid in a candy store.
I bought the Shield as an every day duty carry. I'm basically retired and work as a "CSO" in the Circuit Courts. I wanted a small, light weight, concealable with a sport coat, weapon. I have liked the M&P line, and am impressed by each and every won that I have and the Shield fills the bill perfectly. I find it accurate, for a short barrel, and a pleasure to shoot. I have had zero problems with any of my weapons, but I do clean them regularly after shooting, and I shoot every other weekend usually. The 45 is my home defense weapon of choice and the 22 is just really fun and very inexpensive to shoot, so that gets lots of use. The Shield is a little smaller in hand, but I find that it poses no problem at all going from one to the other. I can't wait 'till tomorrow to try out the new M&P 15 either. To me each and every one seems to fit me and fells good in my hand when shooting.

WOW !!! Great win. Congrats. You are ALSO the top winner for cheapest S&W M&P AR 15 bought. ) on the forum. With the logo it's almost worth putting it behind a class case. LOVE my M&P handguns too,I have all the 9's,FS 45 and M&P 22. They are what sold me (and quite a few great members on this very forum) on the S&W M&P AR's.

Not to rob the post. I have one of the very first Shield 9's out last April and love it. It'll be worth the wait.

Shooting the M&P 15 at the Range today was just as I expected. Not one of these M&P's have let me down yet. This M&P 15 is incredible for a short barrel carbine with the standard sights, it was perfectly accurate. If you look at the picture, the sighting in targets, are the ones to the outside edge in black with the red bulls eye. I started on the lower left and worked the adjustments and targets clockwise, with some minor adjustments, until I got to the lower right for my last 10 shots. Granted it is an indoor range at 25 yards, but it impressed me. I shot a total of 160 rounds, with some very rapid firing toward the end, (I see what everyone means about getting hot) and never missed a beat. I just finished cleaning and oiling now and I have to say the more I handle this weapon the more I like it.

Also, thanks for all your kind words about winning the rifle. I hope others fare as well as I did.

Great Looking Rifle and Great Shooting!!!
In 3 weeks we will be having the 237th Marine Corps Ball for Active Duty and Veterans in Western Kansas. They are having a prize drawing for some kind of AR (probably a Colt) tickets are $10 a piece going to cover the cost of the Ball and for next years Ball plus whatever our Veterans Organization decides to do (Wounded Warrior Project was last years Charity). I am going to have to buy the big ticket bundle and cross my fingers. Colts may not be my first choice but I would sure take one.

I noticed from the pics that you seem to have a removable trigger guard.
Is that correct? If so that is probably a standard M&P 15 lower.
