The Model 27 Appreciation Thread - Let's show 'em

I picked this unfired Nickel 27-2 with 5 inch barrel up at a gun show last weekend.

That looks like a great find! Wow! Good job.

I might as well throw in with the 4" I picked up at a gun show for $600 a few weeks ago. I also have a 6" that I bought for half that price, but that was back in 2003.

Utah Highway Patrol M27-2 3.5"

Wow! What a beautiful gun. It is pictures like this that makes me want to take out another mortgage on the home and buy more model 27's.

Have you fired this gun? Or is it your safe queen? About how many of these guns with the Utah Highway Patrol inscribed on the side do you think are in collectors hands? What is the DOB of your gun?

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the compliment. I got it for $400 about 2 years ago... but it did not look like these pix. I sent it to S&W's Performance Center for mechanical and cosmetic re-hab. New internal parts and a re-blue (and $325) ended up with the 27 as you now see it. I shoot it a lot. It was shipped from S&W on May 18, 1967. As far as other UHP M27s, I have no idea of the number in private hands now.

After thinking about buying a "Classic" 27 I went out and found a 27-3 4" gun on Gunbroker and bought it. I'm glad I did, and this thread was an inspiration. I've shot it twice since it came home and it's my most accurate 4" revolver. I'll never give it up.
