The Model 27 Appreciation Thread - Let's show 'em

This is the first gun I bought back in 1991. A model 27-3

The Models 27 and 28 share the distinction of being better than any other type of .357 Magnum revolver on the planet.

Here's my garden variety 27-2 6-inch.

Below are a couple of pics of my recently purchased Model 27-2, 6" barrel, 1980. First, a bit of background. My second handgun, and first centerfire, was a 27-2,5"bbl, bought new in 1973. Needless to say, it was a beauty. Those were the days of one-handed,single action shooting. The 5 inch 27-2 was superb for this and won me several trophies.
Then came the sad day (13 years later) when I parted with my 27 in order to obtain a 686 which I considered would be better suited to the PPC type of shooting which I was getting involved with, requiring speedloading, double action, etc. In this I was correct, but I never quite got over the loss of my trusty 27.
Fast forward to 2009. Learned of a 27-2, 6" in excellent condition, fired but little which was for sale by a shooting acquaintance. Nostalgia ruled. Saw the 27 - love at first sight. Not a 5 inch, but a pretty darn nice revolver. Move over 686 and make room for your big, older brother. Here it is (BTW the Rem. ammo in the second pic is of the same vintage as my original and newly acquired 27-2):

More?

This is my odd one. A 4-screw frame at serial S138500, nearly 40,000 units ahead of when the change is accepted as being made and shipped about 2 years later than the serial would suggest.

I have two:
3 1/2" 27-2:

And here's one nobody has mentioned yet, 5" 27-3, 50th Anniversary Commerative of the .357 Magnum. This gun also has German proofmarks. S&W has told me that it shipped to Germany in November, 1986:

Wow! I just don't get tired of seeing all of these Model 27's. They are all very nice looking guns. Thanks for indulging me and posting pictures of your nice 27's.

I really like to take mine out and just stare at it in awe. It truly has been my Holy Grail find.

I would like to see this thread continue on... keep them all coming.

This thread was all the way back on page 3 so I'll add my 4" 27-2 and get it back on page 1.

Not the greatest view of the left side but you have to love that checkered topstrap.

Don't have any pics right now of my 5" 27-2 but I shot it Saturday and man, is it a blast to shoot. I was tearing a bowling pin up at 100 yards with it shooting near full-house 158 gr. cast bullet loads. Mine's not pristine or a beauty queen but she sure does shoot!

I got my 27-2 in 4 inch barrel today. A couple of small imperfections but it's a great looking gun.

Here are some new pictures of my 27-2. Same gun, just different pose. I just love the looks of this gun.
