I was wondering if Bill Bates got his letter back from S&W yet, and what info he found out. Here are some pics of my Pre-29 sn 1797xx. Before I got it someone had the barrel shortened to 3 3/4. The roll marks are the worst part. I was thinking of sending the barrel to fords polish off the roll marks restamp and reblue the barrel only. I haven't had any luck in finding an early 6 1/2 barrel yet. I am assuming a 6 1/2 as no letter as its definitely a shooter not a collector piece. Any Ideas?

Looking good, Allen. How is that 696 doing? Has it settled into it's new home yet? I'm about ready to remove the Birdsong finish from the PC681. Hopefully, we'll have some photos soon.
