my mint 6 1/2 inch 29-2. I have the wooden box, papers and tools but no photo.

Mdl 29-2, 6 1/2", came from the factory blued and with target stocks. Has been modified slightly, marked under grip "engraved by Shannon":

I looked through this entire post, but did not see if the OP, Bill Bates, got his letter and if it lettered as a 5".

I was wondering if Bill Bates got his letter back from S&W yet, and what info he found out. Here are some pics of my Pre-29 sn 1797xx. Before I got it someone had the barrel shortened to 3 3/4. The roll marks are the worst part. I was thinking of sending the barrel to fords polish off the roll marks restamp and reblue the barrel only. I haven't had any luck in finding an early 6 1/2 barrel yet. I am assuming a 6 1/2 as no letter as its definitely a shooter not a collector piece. Any Ideas?
