The Most Famous Person You've Met

I've met then Vice President Al Gore (please don't ban me ;)) he was stumping for a local politician the rally was on the campus of the school I was going to. It was free and there was nothing else going on. I also met Kristi Yamaguchi during her 'Stars on Ice' days.

Bob Hope, as part of his close in security; Chuck Yeager at the O club bar at Scott AFB; Al Haig (ahole); Mary Lou Retten, bodyguard at Olympic Event in St Louis, Gen Schartzkopf, Al Jawf SA; Ed O'Bradovich, Chicago Bears; Ray Crock (McDonalds)

Paul Simon (former senator from IL and presidential candidate, not the singer). He knew my Dad from many years before and stopped by when he first ran for the senate.

He actually was once of the nicest guys you could meet, not the typical phony politician. He was a dedicated socialist, so neither me nor my Dad could ever vote for him.

I put him in the honest and well-meaning, but wrong and misguided category. I don't consider him to be one of the evil, elitist, enslave the country to do their bidding types like Stalin/Mao/Pelosi/Obama etc.

I've met quite a cross section of folks. Arthur Godfrey (all around celeb), Keith Magnuson (Chicago Blackhawk), Gary Gaetti (St. Louis Cardinal) and Dennis Franz (various movies, Hill St Blues and NYPD).

The only one I really spent any time with was Franz. A regular guy, very nice and not at all smug or pretentious.

JFK on the campaign trail. My high school girlfriend's father was his campaign mgr for Georgia. Most evenly tanned person I have ever seen.

Stan Musial - got his autograph as a kid.

Met and talked to Angie Dickinson and Carl Malden. Both were very personable.

Harry Gant, stock car driver - not so personable.

Walked across the street to the Gondola in Aspen right behind Arnold in the mid-80s (alone & carrying his own skis). I was in line to ride also, but didn't get to ride up with him. Saw him several times throughout the day - solid skier.

Robert Hillyard, orthopedic surgeon. He saved my foot!

I was at a Club Med in Bermuda, where Johnny Rotten(John Lydon) of the Sex Pistols had been staying for a month. We didn't know who he was, but we had dinner with him several nights, and all the younger people came to say hi. It wasn't until we were back in the states, and I asked a young woman at work if she knew who he was. He was a nice enough chap.

Richard Petty. He was always my favorite. One year we bought infield passes at Atlanta in hopes of getting up-close and personal with some of the drivers. We hadn't seen anyone yet, and as we walked by the media center here comes the King himself. I politely asked for an autograph and he said "sure, walk with me" and I'm walking on one side taking his picture while my wife is on the other having him autograph our program. He moves fast for an old guy :D

My grandmother was wardrobe mistress for the shows at the Palmer House and Conrad Hilton in the '60s. I got to meet Jimmy Durante and Frank Gorshin.

I met Carlos Hathcock at the PGCA show in Monroeville, PA in the '90s.

Phylis George

I met Phylis George (Miss America 1971) and Miss North Carolina on Marine base in 1971. She kissed me on the cheek!
