Singer Mac Davis in the early 70's was doing a local college concert tour before he got briefly big in Hollywood. Acted as a bodyguard / escort while he walked between his dressing room and the nearby college gym where he was about to start his concert. Pleasant guy but really short.
Actress Bette Davis in the mid-late 70's while she was acting in a film being made locally. The film had an occult overtone so there had been some threats made by some unknown wackos. The film company hired locals to calm the film peoples fears. I did on set body guarding for her and film director Leo Penn (Sean's daddy). She was very happy to have a uniformed local LEO standing by her set chair. She was really old at that time but very sharp and feisty. I witnessed a confrontation between her and a stuffed shirt producer from Hollywood. I was standing right there while she told him and his Hollywood buddies where to go. She could make a sailor blush. As soon has he left in a huff, she turned to me, grinned and said, "Let's see how they like that." She proceeded to ask about my family, kids etc. Nice and unforgettable lady.
I've met many of the famous, and infamous, actors, politicians, & celebrities noted above, in my 83 years, however the one that beats them all, is the "Duke," my friend, John Wayne. Fellow actor, poker player, bar hopper, hunter, fisherman, and all around great guy. Adios, Pilgrim! Ed.
I was in the Ceremonial Honor Guard in 1972-1973 and met many people, carried the casket for J Edgar Hoover, Senator Allen Ellender and Harry S. Truman. Does that count? Jim

He kept trying to ditch his state police bodyguards. A kid about 7 years old came up and asked for his autograph. He told the kid no as he was a politician not a movie star.
