The Most Famous Person You've Met

All of them I've met in my line of work:

Gene Hackman (his Credit Card was maxed out!)
Kirk Russell
Goldy Hawn
John Oates (Hall & Oates)
Robert Wagner (really nice guy, his wife Jill St. John-not so much)
Wilford Brimley
Donny Osmond
Marie Osmond
Lance Armstrong
Don Henley
Kevin Costner (he's a cheapskate!)
John Stockton
Karl Malone

I could tell some stories about a few of them-

Humble Pie,
I have this old song in my head. "Thirty Days in the hole."]
and have it on a CD somewhere around here. Think I'll get it out .:)

I ran for my life with Donnie Van Zant.:D

It was backstage at last year's 4th of July Volunteer Jam show in Blue Ash, Ohio. After the show (Shooter Jennings, 38 Special, and the Charlie Daniels Band) I went back with my buddy Spud to get some pictures and he talked shop with us for a bit, great guy!!! (shorter than I woulda thought...) We stayed there to watch the fireworks and they set off a row of huge tubes not 15 feet from where we were standing by the buses. Everybody scattered, mostly to their busese. Who planned that???

Around 1982, I was walking around downtown Norfolk, Virginia and stepped out into the street, thinking the way was clear. Stepped directly in front of a Mercedes sedan, the driver slammed on brakes and avoided hitting me.

I was stunned to see looking through the windshield at me none other than Jacque Cousteau, famous under sea explorer, complete with knit watch cap! He looked at me for a second, then gave me the universal hand gesture saying, "Well, are you getting out of the way?" I stepped back on the sidewalk and he went on his way.

At this time, his ship "Calypso" was home ported in Norfolk. To think I was only steps away from making history, to be run over by Jacque Cousteau....

He would have thrown you in the trunk and you would have been next days chum. Nobody would have ever found the body.

A Medal of Honor winner, Vietnam Era. He was a Sergeant at the time, serving in Korea. A while back I looked up the citation, thanks to the internet.

Easy decision as to who was the most "Famous" person I ever met after reading that citation.

Met a few NASCAR drivers this year a Bristol, Hot Pass Jeff Gordon,Ryan Newman, Dale Jr.,Matt Kenseth and Mark Martin. Also met the cat in the hat Jack Roush. And Terry Labonte a few years ago.

And a lot of soldiers coming home from Deployment. All of them should be famous.

I had the honor of meeting and transporting a van full of Medal of Honor winners during their convention here a few years ago. All were friendly, unassuming, "down to earth" guys. Of lessor significance - Ricky Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Randy Meyers (MLB).

Herb Alpert. Guess that tells a lot about my wild and wandering life...

Had the opportunity to guard George W. Bush when he ran for governor of Texas. He came to my city on a campaign trip, I was in plain clothes and the captain put me on the team and I was stay with him while he made the rounds. Chuck Norris was with him at the time.

He was very gracious and seem genuinely appreciative of my service.

Met Wayne La Pierre coming down the elevator from the observation deck of the World Trade Center in 1998. He was with the family so I didn't take up too much of his time. I've met a few "celebrities" but I don't consider them famous. Joe

Hmmm.............famous people.
I've met Barb our famous moderator and Lee.
I once met Richard Petty, Frankie Laine, Redd Fox (such a vulgar disgusting vile man), Harold Betters, Oliver North, James Garner (I agree, not impressed), Dan Tanko, Dick Burg and Keith Brown. (I need some autographs guys!!!)((or a set of nice grips ( :) Y :) )))

Many years ago I traveled frequently on business and was a member of United Airline's Red Carpet Club. One evening while waiting for a delayed flight out of Washington Dulles, Tennesse Ernie Ford and I were the only patrons in the Club bar. We had a few drinks together and a little light conversation. He was very genial - a nice man!

I met Colonel Sanders many years ago, at Jekyll Island Georgia. That is just plain sad.

My only "celebrity" meetings have all been a result of the Smith & Wesson Collectors group! At one of the annual meetings, I rode down the elevator with Waylon Jennings and his wife, Jesse Coulter, only to meet my husband, Ray, talking with Johnny Cash and June Carter. They were in the area (Springfield MA) doing a concert. Ray invited Johnny to tour the show, but he was in the process of leaving.

Also, Gary Burghoff, Radar O'Reilly from MASH is related to one of our members and came to a show. Really nice guy! Course, his brother is one of the best as well!

Fun thread!

Quite a few, but ones that stand out:
Colonel Sanders for me, too. My dad worked for him.
Ken Harrelson. My sister babysat for him when he was with the Red Sox.
Rosanne Cash, Johnny's daughter and one of my favorite songwriter/singers.
Seth Wesson.
Julia Child.
Al Haig.
Bozo the Clown.

And the infamous Jim Shugart.
