In the search for a subterranean bore axis and low recoil, the wizards at Rock Island Armory came up the gun in this video.

The gun is finally field stripped at minute 17 in the video. I'm pretty sure I've worked out the operating system, which is using a separate piece near the muzzle to lock the slide and barrel together like the Bergmann system. The locking piece is pushed down to release the barrel by the taper on the end of the recoil spring guide rod.
Allegedly, the weapon contains something called the RVS or Ram Valve System to manage recoil. Call me less than convinced, because I cannot see anything like a valve when it is disassembled. Nor can the online reviewers elsewhere. I think the recoil is managed in that the design has put weight on the barrel, and taken it off the slide. Seems to make sense when you consider the slide is the thing that moves the greatest distance.
Whatever, in the shooting part of the video it looks like the magic works. Sootch always demonstrates excellent recoil control in his reviews, but the lack of muzzle flip in this video is almost spooky. My one negative comment on the design is that you could never use it as a military gun. It wouldn't take much dirt to gum up the works.
What say y'all?
