the new sons of guns tonite

Also, being an older guy I don't find women covered in tattoos very attractive so the daughter doesn't do much for me. /QUOTE] Interesting . I've met Stephanie . I don't remember ANY tats , much less " covered " in them .

Stephanie is OK in my eye.I think he might be confusing her with the girl on American Pickers.

As to the show,Have fun,Make lots of money and blow some stuff up.What's not to like?Where do I sign up?

Something for all of you "experts" to whine about :
Long range AK Tech Specs
Hey guys,

Getting a ton of questions on the AK Sniper, I want to give y'all a run down on the build.

First we started with a Saiga .308, it was mentioned numerous times, as well as when we chose the off the shelf match ammo and loaded up hand loads for it on camera, I guess it didn't make the cut, details often don't make it in. And whomever would even think a X39 round is capable of that range is probably not a buyer anyway....

Red Jacket Firearms "Sons of Guns"

I was paying close attention and was hoping that they said something about the caliber. I never saw or heard them make any mention of it.

Interesting that it was a .308 Saiga...

Now to nitpick, its not Really an AK :p

I know Izhmash makes em :)

I do like the show, just just wish they would show more machining less die grinding. The have/had a cnc (seemed like a small HMC) sitting in the shop, but it never was running. They also have some less than great small lathe and an old Bridgeport mill. They rarely use the machines and we often see the die grinder being used.

Now I know, its TV, most folks dont care about machines. I know it looks cool when sparks fly off the grinder. Sparks are cool so is welding, if they welded some angle iron to make a new shelf that would probably make it past the editor. Also the folks that edit the show are probably in LA, CA and dont know a barrel from a stock.

I am also sure that its hard to come up with a story line that has interest. Not the "oh yeah were going to put on a pistol grip and move the trigger on the "S12" shot gun for the 9000th time". This might make a good gunsmith show not a "reality drama" show...

Next week is MG42s, show us how to put a parts kit together and make it a semi...:)

I can dream, right :)

Ive seen some other web site that were really tearing up the show...

It is an interesting show...but gotta say that the claims about the first to build a shotgun for an AR platform....the first 1000 yard AK....those platforms are out there....that is what burns me...instead of saying that you are an original just be up front and say that you built your own....just me

30 seconds of any gun brought into Pawn Stars or found on American Pickers is more interesting than what they do on Sons of Guns for an entire show. Chroming a M1919 and painting it with a cheesy looking dragon? Then putting handle bars on it to imperss the American Chopper guys but you can't figure out how to get the trigger to function via a cable? Really?

They aren't allowed to show you the good stuff, so what more can you expect? And by the good stuff, I mean the stuff that gets you thrown in jail. If you watch the program very closely, you can actually tell which lines are written and which aren't. They're not very good actors. I'd rather see Troy yelling "Chooot it!" any day.

You're right about the editing issues . And as far as the shop / machining thing , Will has two shops and a third coming on line as we speak . There is a lot more to RJF than you see on TV .

YES, I would. If I had the money to spend right now I would send them my S-12 for a little "tweaking".

Anyone see this last night?

I see they got some new sponsors, Mac tools and I see some brand new machine tools. A Haas VMC and a lathe, very nice, lets see'em make something!

Very interesting. They seem to have a Teutonic sense of styling on there logo items...Iron Cross ??? O well they seem to have tweaked the interest of supporters and detractors both...probably good for business. at first i found the show interesting, then I started to personally think they were just a bit over the top....One thing for sure they use up some ammo...I guess you have to do what you have to do...But remember you also have to appeal to gun people as well as those who would use the show as a measuring rod for all gun lovers...A thin line exists in that area....Not all good I'm afraid....Time and ratings will tell. JMO........They might want to discard the iron cross stuff..
