The NRA tried to torpedo two Pro-Gun Bills in Georgia

Tom, a big thank you! I had no idea that's who Johnson was. Somebody posted that in another thread but for those that missed it, and want a good laugh, here it is again. How Adm. Willard handles this without losing it is beyond me.

One thing to note about Rep. Johnson is that he is battling a pretty severe health issue requiring heavy medication. While he is no Daniel Webster on the House floor, this incident seems to be a bit out of character for him. Word locally was that he might have been reacting to his medicine, which does seem reasonable based on the other information and some of the local sources.

You might want to research gun control registration that Lautenberg has managed to pass.
I can understand the contrived controversy to hump yourself and your web site but you're getting a little over the top now. I can hardly wait until you start extolling the virtues of Johnson's predecessor(that'd be Cynthia McKinney for you non-Georgians).

It's more accurate to say that he's managed nothing lately. His "gun show loophole" bills consistently fail to gain traction. His claim to fame is the Lautenberg Act, and there's already been one successful challenge to it that may go up the ladder further.

His recent objections to airport carry may be at the prodding of the Brady Campaign, who still claim victory for the 2007 ban on airport carry.

The reason they opposed 308 is because of the amendment for being able to carry in airports wasn't added. Of course they knew it was already in 291, but maybe they wanted it in there twice cause they knew it would be vetoed or 308 had the opportunity to be better, who knows, but my point is, don't jump on the wrong banwagon, the NRA have made it possible for 34 plus states to be able to carry with reciprocity agreements and more to carry without them!! They are all about 2nd amendment rights, and deserve our trust. Glenn Beck spoke at the meeting this year and everyone knows he is fed up with the GOP and the Democrats, so the NRA is the only voice with power to protect us, man, you really don't want to do that. Now they are supporting both bills, so I really don't get your decision. You don't know why they did what they did, so give them the benefit of the doubt.

Today is the day we will learn the fate of the bills. Word is that Perdue signed some bills and vetoed some others, to be announced today. I think he is traveling out of state, maybe out of the country, today.

Bills left unsigned would become law without the Governor's signature today.

If there is a strong risk of veto, why put it in both bills? With it separate, even if 291 gets vetoed we don't lose all of the gains in 308.

308 is the better of the two bills. Getting rid of the public gathering language is far more important than airport carry.
