The Original Adventures of Superman Show

even a speeding bullet from a S&W revolver can not hurt the man of steel.......now that's real power...............

When Superman went from b&w to color they reshot the opening sequence. Obviously the prop department, not knowing the original had a S&W provided them with the Colt.

Noel Neill was cast as Lois Lane in the 1948 Superman serials but the first year of The Adventures of Superman, Phyllis Coates was cast as Lois Lane. Due to difficulty lining up a time slot, by the time they were ready to shoot the second season, Coates was involved with something else. So Noel Neill was hired to reprise her earlier role. Neill had a cameo in the first Superman movie as Lois Lane's mother. Phyllis Coates played Lois' mother in Lois & Clark-The New Adventures of Supereman. Terri Hatcher of Lois & Clark then did a guest shot as Lois' mother in Smallville.

By the way, Betty Grable was the #1 pin-up girl in WWII. According to her biographer Noel Neill's pin-ups were #2.

Hard to think of Noel Neill as a babe, but then I saw a picture on Facebook of Frances Bavier, Aunt Bea from the Andy Griffith Show, taken in the 1930's. Hard to believe, she was a sho-nuff babe back in the day too.

Hard to think of Noel Neill as a babe,

You can probably see why this 1944 photo might have made it into a few footlockers, over some bunks or in some lockers. Just do a Yahoo search for Noel Neill pinups. She was a photographer's model before she was an actress.

Did you know that Noel Neil and Phyllis Coates also had a great rivalry? Coates started it with jealousy of Neil getting more choice roles too. Neil tried to make amends later in life but Coates refused the olive branch. Shame too, because I like both of them.

Unfortunately for George he really wasn't immune from bullets. It probably wasn't easy being perceived as Superman.
