A 4" 28-2 is my second handgun but my first S&W revolver as well as the first handgun I actually bought. My first handgun is a 6" Colt Python that my dad helped me buy. I spent many hours of patrol duties with each and both served me very well. Still have both with no intentions of getting rid of either. The 28 is a good start.

Very nice 28! Love the package. The 28 big has bit me as well. One of these days I'll get them all together for a photo shoot and share.

I have a soft spot for the Model 28 HP, my very first center-fire handgun was a HP. I had it satin nickel plated and put Herret Shooting Star grips on it; the big N-frame digested some hellacious handloads I cooked up in my youth. I want to get another 4" model some day...

My first S&W was a 6" HP that I bought new in 1966 from a small
GS that readily offered discount prices. I paid a whopping $75 for it.
I still have it. I wanted a 4" to go with it but it took several years
to find one at a price I was willing to pay. The HP is probably the
best gun S&W ever made for the money.

Poor man's m27? No way. The m28 highway patrolman has its own Mitch in the s&w 357 n frame line up. The dull bluing in the dark or low light gives off a larger sized outline silollette of the big revolver telling the bad guys something really bad is going to happen. This was made for the highway patrol and LEO's right?

$85.00 in 1964 would be about $640.00 today by my inflation calculator. Nice revolver.

Cinderfella like the m28 is home reloading while the m27 is at range shooting.
