I see that this story was taken from the NYT (Felons Finding It Easy To Regain Gun Rights), just found that out. The Star Tribune one is very sarcastic though. The NYT article does talk about Minnesota a lot though.
This was posted on Star Tribune in Minneapolis and updated 11-17-11:
The perfect Christmas gift? Firearms
This has to do with some people being able to go in front of a judge and get their 2nd Amendment Rights back. It is written as very anti-gun.
….. They might get angry they didn't get the gun they really wanted and blow you away with the one they did. It has happened before, you know….
……To refresh your memory, Scalia wrote the court's majority opinion establishing the Second Amendment as pertaining to individual and not collective rights as some wimpy scholars argue….
So essentially if you were planning on getting Star Tribune, tell them to take a hike. Or at least after the Christmas season if you really want the ads that come with the Sunday paper, they are really nice to get though.
Granted I didn't really don't know how this usually works going in front of a judge. Example; does a family member or two have to vouch for you, or do you also need to get an employer's recommendation? Just not up on this yet for MN, even though NYT's talks about it though (haven't verified anything yet). However I hope that the attorney's taking the case tell the truth and can't pull **** like defense OJ type lawyers can, ie. just make stuff up.
After reading this I really want to buy a new or used gun now.
