While trying to decide on a scope, decided to move one from another gun so I could shoot my new M&P 10. It is a Leupold VAR-X III 1.75 - 6.
At lower range, sight picture perfect when I bring the rifle to my shoulder and 6x should be good for anything I plan. I can't think of anything that would be better for me. Jim

Oh I can think of one.

The HORUS VISION HDMR w/ H59 Reticle.

No need to ever turn turrets once Zero is achieved at 100 yd. No need for a Spotter, ever.

The ARMY is refitting most all of their Sniper Rifles with it, and might I add, I own one and it blows away all other scopes costing 5 grand or more.

Nuff said, your choice to make.

I just got the Leupold VX-R 2-7x33 for mine.
For my first scope I didn't want to break the bank or go too cheap. Being made in the USA and the lifetime warranty was one of the biggest selling point for me.

I have a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50mm FFP MOA. This scope has great glass and very accurate tracking between the reticle and turret adjustment. Votex's customer service is top notch, too ... they are very responsive. When I had a warranty claim, I dealt with a single person (Stephanie) that took responsibility for my claim from cradle to grave. Stephanie insured that my claim was expedited ... the repair was conducted the morning the scope was received and it was shipped back that same afternoon. When I had a concern with the FedEx return shipment, I emailed Stephanie, and she called me on my mobile not more than 5 minutes after I had sent her that e-mail to solve the issue. Needless to say, my experience with Vortex has been exceptional.

My post was kind of tongue in cheek. With all the available sights and scopes available, I was amazed at just how well the old Leup felt and looked on top of the gun. One of the main things that I am conserned with is weight. Light weight was the reason I bought the M&P 10 in the first place. Other AR 10's were like a boat anchor.

I like the 1.75 x 6 but have only shot the gun once. I hope to get out to the range today and shoot it at 200. Probably will want more power, but then then there will be more weight.
