I rented this movie a couple of weeks ago and it keeps coming back to me. I bring it up as I know a number of us enjoy "westerns". This film takes place in 1880s Australia. It's a stark brutal story with no redemption. However the photography and acting are outstanding. The use of the landscape and photography is stunning. There are several scenes, especially at night, that as stills remind me of Frederic Remington's night paintings. The story line is haunting. If your local movie rental place has it give it a try, I thought it in a totally different class that the recent Apaloosa or 3:10 to Yuma. It gives Open Range and the Unforgiven a run for their money.

I bought this movie used when the local store went out of business for $1.00
A dollar well spent.
No ten gallon hats or or clean fingernails in this movie.
Kind of reminds me of a 70's western,
"The Culpepper Cattle Company" in its' starkness.

It has the great Guy Pearce -

- what's not to like?

Rather bleak, but I liked that movie.

Guy Pearce was supposed to be what Russell Crowe became, but he never quite made it big with American audiences. A shame really, since he's a fine actor.

It's a tough movie. Definately not for the general audience. Some of the sequences are not for the faint of heart, not that I'm suggesting you are. But I found myself dealing with some squirm factor viewing some of the stuff in this film. But I can't get it out of my mind. I absolutely loved the photography and the believability of the cast. I thought the sound track innovative, refreshing in ways and appropriate, it also registered in my thoughts that some folks could be put off by it.
