As some of you know, I recently offered up a karma of a pair of grips and a knife. The purpose of the karma was to give something back to the forum and its members and staff. The winner of the karma was MetalMan. He was excited to win and I was excited to send it to him.
Fast forward to today. I go to the mailbox and what's in there? A letter from MetalMan! Open it up and besides thanking me, he included $20 to help cover shipping. That's a stand up guy, right there. He pays me to send him a gift!
MetalMan, I salute you, but I can't take your money for something that was a gift. I doubt you'd take it back and shipping a $20 bill back and forth might be kinda fun, but pointless. So, the Oregon Humane Society just got a donation for $30. We're helping to feed animals until they can be adopted!
The main point I wanted to make is that MetalMan is no different than many I have met on this site. This place is full of stand up guys and gals. I am so happy to have such a nice place, with so many nice people, to belong to. So, thanks again for making my life better.

I like what you did there, Lihpster! By the way, where did your forum name come from, and how DO you pronounce it? :D

Old gamer tag. My name is Phil. Spelled backwards it's Lihp. That didn't sound cool enough. So, Lihpster it was. I pronounce it like leapster. I use it mainly because it's usually available and EvilDemonLord666 is always taken.:D

I agree that the people on this forum are super. I have made friends in other states that I call or email regularly. Been a member for a while and visited for a few years before I joined. Learned a ton about S&W’s from people willing to share their knowledge.

The main purpose of starting the NE Ohio Bunch was to meet some of the people here and put faces to form names. We had a good thing going for about 12 years, met a lot of great people at the Bunch. We also shared our love of S&W’s by displaying our favorites.

Long live the personality of this forum for future collectors and thanks for a fun place to visit. Larry

My oldest son even into his 40's is Blond and green eyed and 6'2". When shooting SASS with me while home on leave (You have to use a "Cowboy Alias") I took his gamer name, "Cold Heartless One" and made it into a Cowboy name "Cold Heartless Juan"! His said "Who was going to believe he was any kind of Juan?

This is not the first forum I have served as moderator but it is by far the best and most well behaved. The people here are not only friendly and eager to help, they are generous and in most cases, respectful. Moderating on other forums was often like herding cats, and rabid ones at that. We have a great bunch of people here, and much of that is due to Lee's (handejector) no messing around rules that weed out a lot of the undesirable element and makes it a place good folks like to hang out at.

Being an old member and listening to all here I am still pleased to hear the many sides of many complaints. All are OK some are stupid yet I get on here every night and enjoy myself. The Forum is my escape from the crazy world we live in now. My friends here give relief from the news, you know, robbery, rape, killings, and mayhem. Enough said.

In just a few days it will be 19 years that I've been a member here, and the Forum is my favorite social media site, hands down.

The atmosphere is civil and polite (for the most part) and the wealth of knowledge is truly impressive. The Rules keep everybody in line, and the immaturity, foul language, and trash talk that plagues other gun forums are mercifully absent (again, for the most part). One of the best aspects here is the Ignore feature, which lets us filter out certain posters. (I wonder if my stalker realizes I don't even see what he posts? :) )

What impresses me most about the Forum is the level of trust and old-fashioned ethics here. Members who post items for sale describe them honestly, warts and all, and price them fairly for the most part. And...I have made several purchases recently from members who shipped what I bought from them even before they received my payment...amazing!

Thanks for the reminder, lhipster, of just how good we have it here... :)
