For those who aint buying dvds, yer missing out bud. I just picked up the first half of season 3, and I think its the best season so far as far as stories and such go. In particular, an episode titled: Seven. Of course other episodes were excellent but, this one stands out. I aint giving details but, many great writers on the show including Sam Peckinpah, some great directors as well.

Anyone else currently collecting this show or watching it?

It plays for several hours on one of the cable channels on Saturday mornings, and by now I've seen every one of them ten times over. Still tune in though.

Like the Daniel Boone series, the first two or three seasons are the best, then they got all preachy.

I watched it regularly on an over the air channel over the winter when I was getting home from work earlier. With my longer workdays of summer to early fall, it will be rare for me to catch the show for awhile.

I remember seeing on, I think, YouTube, someone had stitched together every Rifleman shootout from all episodes. I think Lucas shot several hundred BGs in it, and there was a running body count on the bottom of the screen. I haven't checked to see if it is still there.

Remember when we were kids and we got up to watch Saturday morning cartoons?

I wake up early on Saturdays to watch a few hours of the Rifleman on AMC.

Does that make me a grown up kid?

Don't think that's by choice.I remember watching an episode where he talked about getting shot or something like that. That's why he always grabs the shotgun.

When he was first introduced, his character was a drunk former sheriff and Lucas gives him a job to get his confidence back and face the man who shot him. He then becomes the sheriff.
