Hey, glad you stopped by!

Knock, knock.

Who's there?

Orange.

Orange, who?

Orange you glad you bought your SD9VE? :-)

Just a little Monday humor... LOL

Ya know, the trigger on this gun is nice. I just can't imagine why some people complain about it, it's smooth, consistent and the bullets go where the gun is pointed. I'm thinking about getting another one.

Well don't you know? Every pistol is supposed to have a 2# single action trigger. Or maybe one that will fire if you breathe on it too heavy! Mine is just fine stock.

Matt

I looked an all the places where parts run/rub together with trigger action and put quality gun grease in those places. That included several places back near the rear and most of all, the region where the trigger bar ribs against the plastic (right side).

Trigger pull is smooth as butter. The force required didn't seem to change much but the result was really smooth action.

There are a few mechanical movements between the trigger bar and the "sear" that may be perceived as roughness but they are simply the parts doing their job in getting ready to release the striker.

I put 2 1/2 boxes of ammo through a fist size hole yesterday and I haven't shot the gun in about 6 months.

I'm tickled pink with this gun.

Well-timed thread. I just pulled mine out, thinking of shooting it this weekend. I am really glad I added the Galloway Precision take-down release. Installation of the Apex trigger kit did not work for me, so I returned the parts, but even without that, my SD-9 is smooth and user-friendly. (I have an M&P with the Apex Forward Set Sear and trigger and it has the 2# trigger -- it is superb on the range, but I wouldn't want to carry it anywhere; the SD-9 is a viable self-defense gun for the truck or camping/fishing trip right out of the box).

I got myself thinking that I'd love to get another one...

Bought ours for SD but shooting is fun 50+ years after I was shooting and fishing. I just noticed that Walmart has 100 round boxes of 100 grain Federal for around $25. Might be fun to shoot more often, although folks say it's not clean ammo . . . might even make me clean the gun more often.

I bought another brand of takedown lever, somewhat shorter than Galloway but the one I got saves my fingers and fingernails. Its laser cut and I think the takedown levers/bars are important for accuracy because they position the barrel when the gun is fired. Also it's stainless so it adds a little gleam to an already handsome weapon.

Well, I'd be interested in that other brand of takedown lever... just in case I buy another SD one of these days! (The Galloway lever costs $12).

I really like the all-black SD, which is the model I have. But as Scott from Apex told me, if you don't like the bright stainless one, there are a lot of vendors who can turn it black with Cerakote, Robar, etc., for a reasonable price.

Mine came with a night-sight front and painted dots in the back, but I swapped in a set of M&P night sights in the rear (I cannot recommend strongly enough getting a MGW sight tool to change sights on M&Ps and SDs - it fits both - and saves a lot of potential damage to the sights and the slide, as well as making it easier to make small windage adjustments).

S&W Rover. Interesting measurements. The black stock one measures 28.52 mm max and my new Stainless lever measures 29.50 mm max. I was surprised! Just one mm made an incredible difference for me. Cost was $12.99 with free shipping.

It is made by NDZ Performance. Laser cut and better made than the factory lever, which appears to be stamped.

I believe the lever plays a significant role in positioning the barrel so cleaner measurements are important.

[Added comment - that part does not appear on the NDZ website but is on eBay. I sent a query to NDZ because the part came in an NDZ package]
