I dont bag my bugs, I just spray em with Raid! I use a surplus Army rucksack and M-1938 suspenders and belt with the appropriate holster/ pouch's and such under that. Have a seperate set up just for the Garand with the ten pocket belt with riggers pouchs for basic ammo load.

Looks like a awesome bag. I did some backpacking in my younger days. Which we had equipment like there is today. I would still enjoy packing but my back will not cooperate.

Bag like that should have a full bath and kitchenette.

I think that's a very utilitarian "toy-hauler" for sportsmen - that flatbed space is designed to hold an ATV so you can haul your deer the easy way.

Thanks for the replies folks (well, almost all of them!). The way I figure it, I can put a good deal of survival stuff in it that is currently in a 50 year old suitcase, plus a couple of changes of clothes, ammo, couple of gun rugs, etc. I came to this decision after tryin out a bunch of different bags at different locations.

After reading the thread about what 5 things you would take out of the house if it caught fire (people already out), a few things clicked. For instance, having all important papers such as birth certificate, passport, credit card(s), insurance papers, legal documents, etc. in one waterproof envelope or bag in your safe, would be a good idea. In an emergency, all I would have to do would be to grab a few things from the safe and go. The above mentioned package, and a couple of guns. The ammo would already be in the bag along with everything else that does not need to be locked up.

If I ever did decide to go camping / hiking, this bag will fill the bill as well. The rucksacks and duffle bags are good, but carrying them for any length of time would be a problem. I did a lot of reasearch on hiking backpacks, and the suspension packs like this one put the weight on your hips, not your shoulders. The reviews were very good for this particular bag, it's got lots of features, and the price was right.

Sure do like that trailer Barb! Plan "A" is to grab this thing and throw it into the back of the SUV. With any luck, I won't have to carry it. If I do, it is built for comfort.

The design looks very similar to the Camp Trails Catskill pack I have from 25 years ago. The internal frame pack is nice if you are in mild weather. Need an external frame in the heat to keep some air flowing between the bag and your back.

Just a note on some of those teardrop trailers. If you actually plan to sleep in the thing overnight you should try out the 'bed' first by actually laying in it. Most of them have little to no room to actually straighten your legs. This is fine if you can sleep like that or are very short. They do make extensions that extend the door on each side which help.

There is quite a club (user group) of the teardrop trailers who have rallies and camping weekends and such. Many of them that I know still pitch a tent to sleep in as it has more room.

Hi Amy, Welcome to the forum!

You really do have to try these things on to get a feel for what's too big and what's too small. I am 6'2" and weigh somewhere around 250 lbs., so this seemed doable. I tried one on of approximately the same size at a local store last week, and it was not as huge as it looks on those little manikans in the pictures. Like I said, It will mostly just sit in the corner, ready to go if need be. And even if need be, it's going to be riding in a vehicle and not carried much. I did want a bag that COULD be carried if the situation called for it though. That's where duffle type bags fall short.

The bag arrived today, and I am very pleased with it. It is not as enormous as y'all might think. Syrapped on correctly, the top of the uppermost part of the bag is just below the top of my head. It rests comfortably on the hips. Extremely comfortable, and I believe it will hold everything that I need it to hold. If anyone is looking for a similar bag, I reccomend the e-bag site. Their prices for quality stuff is much lower than what can be found in stores.

Now the gathering of important items continues. This site is a great asset.
