G'day all

I've got a S&W 4506-1 currently with my dealer pending a "Permit to Acquire" (a letter from our state's Firearm Registry allowing me to purchase a gun).

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what holster Vic Mackey used in The Shield TV series when carrying his 4506-1? Looks like a paddle holster from this photograph.

Many thanks.

Its from Aker. A design I did for them in the early 90s. Paddle holsters have popped up on lots of cop shows likely because the costumer can swap them in and out of scenes without fuss.

Cheers. Thanks for that Red. Any idea of where I'm likely to pick one up here in Australia? (Otherwise I'll try getting one from the USA. Looking online, Aker does not appear to make them anymore for the 4506 so I may have to look on the used market). Cheers.

Beretta 92 is the same holster, moulded differently. Give that a go.

Ok. So I finally managed to get a Beretta 92f Aker thumb break holster; model 118. Got this from USA eBay for less than $20 USD. Also purchased a Paddle from Aker direct. So my 4506-1 goes into the holster pretty well apart from about the last 1/4" (6mm) or so. It looks like things tighten up there where the holster has been moulded in for the Beretta's barrel.

Could you please tell me what the best course of action would be to open this up? Soaking it and then attempting to re-moulding? Saddle soap and leave a wooden dowel in it for a while. Many thanks. Moo Moo

Re-molding a leather holster isnt too hard. Soak it for a few hours in warm water till it is pliable. Then stick your pistol in a plastic bag and holster it. Leave it till your leather is dry again, and then treat the leather with whatever you normally use. (I use Leather Honey).
