Ammo has begun trickling into my area, central Washington State. There were five boxes of Fiocchi in my caliber at the LGS ten days ago. I bought one box and left four out of consideration to others. Sunday there were two left, once again I bought one. Interestingly, the Fiocchei in my caliber was the ONLY ammunition they had to sell.

Now... The shelves are stocked with ammunition, ammo in my caliber? Nope.

It was beautiful to see stocked ammo shelves.

I was traveling on Tuesday for my pt job and stopped at a Scheels store. They were knee deep in ammo. It was the most I have seen since this all started. I didn't buy any as I was prepared.

I got notice on Tuesday a case of 5.56 I ordered 18 months ago is now ready for shipment at the old price.

"Old price" is a good thing max...

Just a word to the wise, the manufacturers have significantly increased production during the high demand times. Eventually, the demand will subside and a glut of ammo could be the result, leading to reduced prices. Buy what you need but wait until supply catches up with demand and the resulting lower prices, to stock up.

That really sound good, hope you got them at a fair price ?

I am getting inundated with ammo emails from LAX, SGAMMO, BulkAmmo etc. and they have most items in stock. Prices are still high. As long as there are no additional shutdowns etc. the prices will moderate. It will be interesting to see what the new norm will be though. Look at how lumber crashed once production caught up with demand. The time to restock is coming, but not quite here yet.

I'm seeing prices starting to inch down a bit. I primarily read my daily mailings from Brownell's and Palmetto State, and both are showing a slight improvement in prices on the two calibers I look to buy, 9mm and 5.56mm. Not quite down to the buy instead of reload level, but getting a little better. Have patience!

Yesterday I bought the last box of 22s at Cabelas.
300 round box of Winchester.
They had 2 boxes. Another Dude bought the other one.
Then they had Nada!

My local Bass Pro had lots of ammo yesterday at the current prices of 2x-3x pre-pandemic prices. Most calibers covered, but little choice in each caliber. I’ve concluded that until the shelves are fully stocked, we won’t see the prices decrease significantly.

Keep in mind that if you’re a new gun owner, and 9mm has dropped from $29.99 to $24.99, you may be stocking up now that it’s “on sale.”

I checked Bulkammo based on an email I received. They had 70-80 1000 round cases of multiple brands of ammo in 9 and 45 showing ready to ship. Prices are still really elevated between 2 -3 x our perception of normal. Read an article yesterday about the Lone Oak ammo plant and they are running at 90% production. As long as there are no more shutdowns etc. prices will have come down. Keep what powder you have dry !

Our Sportsman's Warehouse had a lot of ammo the other day, prices are still way too high for me to purchase. Our local Bi-Mart regularly gets small amounts of ammo at pre-pandemic prices, with a limit of two boxes per customer. The 5.56 is not really selling like it did before, I think people have hoarded enough to where prices are bound to come down.

Ammo Depots now?

Happen to go into one of our Farm Ranch stores
did a walk by the Ammo isle and there was all
kinds of Ammo.

Another Local Gun Stop also had Ammo on their
shelves.

Prices were high but nothing like previous months.
That was a good sign.

Some of the ammo trickling into the stores isn't particularly of high demand by MOST shooters. I saw 10 boxes of 22 Jet ammo at a local Sportsman Supply a month ago. They were still there last week.
I can't remember last time I saw 22 Jet ammo for sale in a store. NOS and reloads at auctions yes, but not factory new in a retail shop.

Ammoboard seems to be an option for "cheap" rifle plinking rounds.

They have Maxxtech steel, which is Russian Vympel (think: Golden Tiger).
7.62x39 1k is $269.99
.223 1k is $324.99

Shipping is free, although I would suggest you take them up on their offer to insure the shipment for a couple of bucks (there were horror stories of ammo being stolen by UPS employees during the panic).

That's not pre-covid prices, but it also isn't too awful far above them, either.
I was waiting for things to drop maybe 40-50 dollars lower, but we're suddenly seeing a big covid spike which could trigger another panic surge. So, I admit to caving in on that.

I haven't yet seen 9mm crack the $300 point, especially if you factor in shipping.
Fwiw, I put a box of Tula 9mm through my P226 yesterday at the range, with no hiccups. I used some empty boxes (opened up, so about the size of my hand) for targets at 15 yds, and had no trouble keeping everything on them.
