They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am waiting for the arrival of my 649-1 late 80's .38sp bodyguard. I have always had my eye on one of these "ugly" revolvers. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I know what you mean. I've got an old Model 49 Bodyguard myself. About the easiest shooting snubnose j-frame I've ever seen. No +p, sadly, but it's not really much of a modern carry gun anyways.

I was always a Centennial man until I really looked at a Bodyguard. As stated they do grow on ya. Here's a few pic's of my nickeled M-38 and polished M-649.

These "ugly" revolvers have always been some of my favorites. They give you the option of shooting single or double action, and they are snag free. They make the ultimate compromise between the chief's specials and the centennials.

Honestly, when I went looking for a snub the 638 stuck out and looked better to me than all of the others. :)

I traded my 642 centennial in on a 438 Bodyguard last year and haven't looked back. They definitely grow on you.

I am VERY offended at being called ugly. I bet you guys aren't to cute either.

I went looking for a centenial at first. then a friend of mine offered up a no lock 638 cheap and i decided to give it a ty as it made sense. Now someone would have to pry it from my cold dead hands before i parted with it.

Baloney - the 49 is all steel and can safely handle +p even if it's
not "printed" on the barrel - and I carry one quite often.

:)
