Haven't been on this thread in a while...

... so I thought I'd jump back in with an old friend... :)

My favorite 58 is actually a .44! Here shown with a couple of my most used "field" and "belt" guns...

Since the last time on this thread, my 58-44 has found some new shoes courtesy of my pal "Weatherby"... N-Frame-Smooth-Goncalo- Modified Magnas are tough to find...

This gun and load continue to make me look good! :)

I had, what I thought was a real dilemma this past weekend. A friend of mine want to buy/trade for my M58. After thinking about it, I declined his offer. I have posted a pic of my M58 before, but it did not have the Kurac grips on it at that time. Here is an updated pic.

Ohhhhhhh JCS&W, that is way too pretty to trade away. I finally picked up my first 58 a few weeks ago, so I've met the minimum qualification for "Club" membership. But who wants to see one more brutish new-to-me blued 85-90%'er 58 when there are beauties like yours out there.

Desert Rat 416, forget the "beauties". I and many others, love to see "real" M58's, not safe queens. Post those pics!

Roger that JCS&W. My skills with a digital camera are second only to my inability to "upload" anything without a shovel, but my more talented brother owes me a few favors. I will only be requesting consideration for formal entry to "the Club" when I post the pics of my new workin' gun, and am deemed worthy!

I wouldn't mind having one just for my collection. I would probably shoot it once every other year. But it would be a nice addition. For me it isn't a matter of practicality. At least not when it comes to the Model 58 and a few other S&W revolvers.

Hey guys. I admire the 41 mag also. I like my late 70's M57-6" and 4" M657. I would like to get a decent M58-one to shoot. What should I expect to pay for one? Not many around here. LGS has two-one for about 900 and the other for 1200. Little pricy for me. Thx for your insight.

A few years ago I got lucky and found a shooter for a hair over $500. I guess that your location makes a huge difference on price. I have seen shooter grade guns sell for close to $900 and NIB examples for $1600.

I would bet that someone here on the forum could help you out...I found both of mine through WTB adds here on the forum, and I made some new friends as well :)

Thank you sir, I will research that.

Recommended grips for Newbie 58 club member?

I have smallish hands. From pix I've seen, the magnas are by far my favorite "looks-wise". Does anyone make any combat style (flush bottom fitting) grips that's comfortable for the 58? I always feel the full size ones look too long for this gun.

Or is magnas with Tyler T-grips the best solution (but I've heard mixed reviews on comfort and fit of these)? Any input appreciated!

Prices for 58s, even on GunBroker, are all over the place. Did a completed auction search over on GB and saw a nice blue one with the correct grips that sold just before Christmas for $530.00...and some clean ones without the correct grips that went for close to $900....

hoser...if you want to get into the Cult...pardon me...Club...a stock set of grips with a Tyler-T is an ok way to go. If you could find a beatup set of target grips you could them sand them down to whatever size that best fits your hand.

I have a set of grips from Schofieldkid81 and if you contact him he may be able to make a set to your hand size...
